What's New Saturday
Good morning Ladies, it is going to be another beautiful day today..low humidity and temps only in the 80s feels like spring.
...yesterday was absolutly wonderful i almost worked myself to death since it was so pretty outside i did a lot of garden work....picked 22 beautiful red ripe tomatoes that are just lucsious....juicy and fragrant i have finally found the secret to growing great tomatoes. Calcium, they need it too lol i used Epsom Salts in the holes when i planted them and have been spraying them with a product that is called EN-rot it keeps them from getting blossum end rot because of the lack of calcium in the soil ....who knew? not me untill i got tired of wastiing my time growing these horrible deformed tomatoes that had tough thick skin. ...
anyway i also picked a lot of other things and then had to process them ....a whole 3 gal bucket full of green beans and another of broccoli, and then several zucchinni and yellow squash, i should have at least one or two watermellons ready by today or tomorrow....my mouth is jus****ering for them....i cant get enough of them in the summer time..but i hat paying 2.99 for a watermellon...
Maui Karen the other day was wondering what the prices were here , milk gal 2.15 , gas 2.19
bread 100% whole grain 2.25. bananas 3 pound for a 1.00 have been buying them that price at save a lot all summer . they must have made a deal with the devil to get them at that price...havent seen that since the 60s....about the same time as hamburger meat use to be 3pounds for 1.00 it is always sticker shock to me on the prices of meats. we do a lot of fish we catch and then spread the meat really thin and eat lots of veggies. i let my hubby have most of the meat and if i dont get enough protein i just have a shake...cheaper than the meat, which doest like me any way.
well didnt mean to write a book this morning, have to get busy, my granddaughter will be here soon with her new hubby and other great grand son that we havent seen since last summer.
i need to get hold of my other granddaughter and let her know that this one will be here and for them to come over early in the morning so they can see each other. ..
got a lot to do so better get with it. hurry hurry hurry that seems to be my life lately lol ......

Happy Saturday Morning....
Had a fairly good nites sleep once I got settled down and comfortable...ended up taking two pain pills because the neurontin wasn't working. It's my foot and toes that are so painful when I lay down...
Have had a wonderful hot shower, did 1st session of exercizes, stripped the bed and have them in the washer, neighbor came over to
put lotion on my feet and put my socks on. I did manage to get a pair of ankle socks on yesterday by myself but it was a struggle, not being able to bend over yet.....thank goodness for my long handled grabber.
Nothing much on the agenda today - really need to go to the store, but will have to corral someone to take me......I really hate not being able to drive myself....
Margo, it sounds like you and Michael are well on your way to an exciting adventure in Hawaii......I want to go there, but just for a visit.
Time to put the sheets in the dryer and have some breakfast.....I haven't taken my water pill for four days because I want to try and get off it, but the scales have gone up 4 lbs, so I guess I will take it this morning and see what happens.

Just need to play mother-hen for a moment.
Does your Dr know you are stopping your water pill? If so that's cool...if not you should really discuss it. Stopping can not only cause water weight gain, swelling in the legs, feet and hands, increase blood pressure and it can allow water to collect around the heart which is not good.
My grandmother would drive us nuts with her decisions to stop taking meds without the dr knowing......then she wouldn't feel right and we'd find out.

My PCP has been slowly decreasing my water pill dosage until we are now at 10 mg......he wants to take me completely off of it, but I can see
by not taking it for 4 days that it's not going to work. I took it about an hour ago and have already been to the bathroom 3 times.
So far I have not noticed any swelling in my legs, feet and hands, but the scale has sure moved up.

Glad to hear the Dr is on board with this.
I'm hoping to get off mine eventually......I just got off blood pressure meds a couple months ago so one step at a time.

Aloha Jan........your little farmer girl, you!! How I envy the idea of fresh tomatos just off the vine!! And your PRICES!! I hope you know how lucky you are!!
My friends and I are always grumbling about prices. One of my friends is a great cook, but she gets so frustrated because the prices of the ingredients she needs keeps skyrocketing. She refused to pay $8.00 for a certain spice that she needed....the small jar!! Ground beef here (not the fancy 10% fat find but the cheapest cuts are ON SALE for $4.99 a lb!
Even though I complain about the prices, I LOVE living here. I just must learn to eat simply, less and the become a "coupon goddess!" Ha!

My friends and I are always grumbling about prices. One of my friends is a great cook, but she gets so frustrated because the prices of the ingredients she needs keeps skyrocketing. She refused to pay $8.00 for a certain spice that she needed....the small jar!! Ground beef here (not the fancy 10% fat find but the cheapest cuts are ON SALE for $4.99 a lb!

Your prices scare me to death!!! Do you have a Sam's Club or a Costco? Are their prices any better? My son and I use Costco... not only do we get 'free samples' (lunch), we split the stuff... and even have shared (split) with my sister, too. Sure makes the price come down by buying in bulk. If you could find two or three people to share with, you could do it so much cheaper..but I don't know their prices..
Even their gas is cheaper.
