My husband was killed over 20 years ago and I don't know if it's harder when one is older or younger. I know it wasn't easy for me but I got strength from my children and family and friends and work. Along with my sorrow I had a lot of anger issues because my husband was killed by a drunk driver. I received some professional help (counseling) for about three months and that really helped me a lot. I'm sorry for you loss.

Dearest Marylyn,
My heart goes out to you. The only thing I can say is its alright to shed tears of love, tears not of loss but of love. Your dear husband is not "lost" but only in a different place from you. You will always love him, and that's okay. Love did not go with him to be never found again, its an in heritance that remains with us. I will pray for comfort and peace in your life. You are richly loved by the members of this board, and your family. Together may we offer you comfort and encouragement. Blessings to you Marylyn

Walking with you on this journey, Mary
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Aloha Marylyn....It's Sunday morning......6:30 a.m. here on Maui so much later where you are, but I'm just now reading your post. I do not know what to say to you to comfort you at this horrible time in your life. I have not lost a husband, or a child, and I think those must be the worst. I have lost parents....but that is sort of in the "cycle of life."
I keep looking at your picture and seeing that beautiful, happy smiling face. That must be the one your husband loved. I would imagine in the deepest place inside me that he would want you to keep smiling that smile and living your life fully. Not many of us are given the gift of a marriage that lasted as long as yours. I feel inadequate in giving you any advice....except that I hope you hear the TLC that is coming to you from your little family here on the OFF.
Love is love.....I hope you feel it....and that you are going to be OK.
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen
