not really sure what will get accomplished today but i will work at it!
we made our drive yesterday- got michael his shoes-actually bought two pair since they were a good fit and he will use them almost everyday-he has oddly shaped feet due to a farm related accident when he was a kid and wearing western boots for so long...anyhow- an enjoyable drive tho long! came home and i took a nap while he worked on his patio some more-
this morning i just want to say that i am so blessed with friends and that i apprecaite each of you- one in particular today has comforted me in a way that i cannot describe...put my heart truly at ease about our move- we will be taking roxie but she will be vacationing here on the mainland and coming approximately a month after we go!!!! so this week i start her vetting process!!!! thank you, God, for my friends and the blessings we share.
ok-not trying to upset anyone with religion- just have to share my feelings!
well- need to get some protein in this bod and then get to work...
hugs and prayers!
I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Margo,
I'm glad you'll be able to have Roxie join you in paradise. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to leave a beloved pet behind ... well, yes I can, because when I moved from Montana to South Dakota, I left three of my five cats behind (too difficult to move with five cats and try to find a place to live****pt Kittle and Cinnamon, but left the three female cats ... placed one, left two in the animal shelter, not knowing if they'd get a home. It was so hard. I know it was difficult for you to have to leave your babies, but being able to have Roxie will make it a little easier.
Oh, my dear friend...I so admire your determination to get to Hawaii...and to bring at least one of your pet friends......! I think you know so much more than I did when I moved here and had to give up my loves from Oregon...(two kitties) Maui and Sophie. I was told if I wanted them to move to Maui with me they would have to be in quarantine in Honolulu for FOUR MONTHS!! No way was I going to put them though that, so I gently gave them to my son in Oregon telling him that I hoped he could find homes for them and he did.
You know I am so hoping everything works out for you
OXOX
Maui Karen
this is not easy at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! however; it will be sooooo worth it all in the end!!!!!!!!!!

EXPERIENCE WITHOUT REFLECTION IS HOLLOW
It's gloomy and cool here in West Michigan, and now it's raining. Just got off the phone with my mom, and we were talking about rain ... then I looked out the window and saw raindrops on the window. There's a little patch of sunshine out to the west. Mom says it's not raining in Franklin Park (western Chicago suburbs). Wonder how it is on the south side? Just wondering if the White Sox game is on. They won yesterday, but just barely ... had two guys thrown out at the plate in the fifth inning. One guy (Paul Konerko) is slow as dirt, but the other guy (Chris Getz) is pretty speedy. Baltimore's outfielders have good arms. Hey, George, what's the matter with your Rangers? They're not helping the Sox anyway not beating the Twins. The Twins have really good pitching, I know.
Enough of the baseball report ... only George and I are interested.
Not much going on. Yesterday, I got up at 10 and went to the farmers market in Grandville (close town to me) ... very small farmers market, only five booths, all selling pretty much the same stuff ... veggies, blueberries, cherries, raspberries, some flowers. I bought a little at just about every booth to spread the wealth around. Spent about $15. Bought some blueberries, cherries, lettuce and a couple of tomatoes. Too early for 'maters, they were a little too pink yet, but I put them in a paper sack and hope they will ripen there. I don't have a window sill in my kitchen, and the only windows I have don't really have sills ... I have those windows that crank outward. I kind of remember Margie telling me to put tomatoes in a paper sack to ripen. She always had good hints. She went to college for home economics, so had a plethora of handy homemaking hints. One was to dry a coat in a dryer, you could use a tennis ball to fluff it, but if you didn't have that, you used macaroni in a paper sack, or you could use a canvas sneaker. It works! But the macaroni trick made a mess ... the paper sack got wet and the macaroni was all over the dryer. I was picking out macaroni from the dryer for weeks.
Margie is on my mind today because I got a thank you note from her daughter Friday, along with a laminated copy of the obituary that appeared in the Redfield Press (the paper Margie and her husband, Wally, owned in South Dakota, that her daughter, Lori Jo, now works for as a reporter). Also enclosed were two of the cards given out at the funeral service. I thought that was nice. Lori Jo said her mother was "a tremendous lady" who gave her love to a lot of people.Yeah, too bad her daughters never appreciated that. As much as my mom gets on my nerves at times, I would never not call her or visit her for four years. I love her with her flaws ... that's what makes her "mom" ... she loves me despite my flaws, and I have many. And also, I really need someone to talk to today, and usually, I'd call Margie. I don't have her to call anymore, and there's no one to replace her. My friend Mary Kay has been there the past couple weeks, but she's on the road on a great adventure (lucky her! She's going to Alaska eventually, but right now is visiting family, then going to the Grand Canyon and on to California for more family visits). I just don't have that person who is there for me like Margie was. Even though I've felt better in recent weeks, I feel her loss mostly on Sundays.
Oh, and my brother Gary doesn't need surgery right now on his cervical spine, so that's good news. Second doctor he saw said it's a wait and watch area. So I have two weeks of vacation to take and sit at home and do nothing.
Well, not much on the agenda today, just baseball, laundry, reading ... I may make some blueberry muffins with all the blueberries I bought. I love farmers markets because it feels good to buy local.
Have a good day.
Good afternoon to my new friends. I'm working all weekend so nothing big to report. I just love reading everyday and seeing what a close knit group you all are. I'm off Mon-Wed and have nothing special planned. Hope to hear something this week about our "flood" damage. My contractor will be submitting his findings to our insurance company tomorrow and should hear back in a couple of days. I might go out and start looking for tile and laminate flooring so I'll be ready whenever they can start.
Try to stay cool in this heat and watch that thermostat~my electric bill was $492 this month. I about had a stroke and immediately moved it from 78 to 80 degrees!!
