What we are eating and what's eating us Tuesday!
I am so happy Oprah finally had a show on weight that included RNY. She had Marie Osmond who said she felt ugly since 10. Marie also said when she and Donny did their show the producers took her into the parking lot and told her if she did not lose weight, they would cancel the show. She was 110 pounds at the time!! She went down to 93 pds.
Star Jones said she was ashamed she had RNY,that she was so accomplished and could not control that.
She had to do a lot of head work,to get the fat out of her head. I stopped watching Oprah long ago when she said RNY was the easy way out,I am so happy Star told her it was the hardest thing she has ever done....finally! It made me cry! I am neither a big fan of Star or Oprah, but I am so glad the world heard these things tonight!
Today I had: corn,beans,smoked sausage,an orange,and 2 slices of pepper cheese.
It was a long day, take care!

Well, here I sit at 1:56 a.m. and can't even begin to keep my eyes closed. I can't imagine why I can't sleep. Took a walk today and around 5:00 got tired, but now that it's night time, I'm awake. Wide awake. Maybe it's the unknown about the house sale.
Today I had 3 protein shakes/chai tea. Applesauce and cream of mushroom soup. Right now I'm drinking Crystal light. I can hardly wait to get my mouth on some Taco Bell pintos and cheese.
I see a spider on the wall and I'm keeping my eye on it so it doesn't get too close.
Hopefully Tuesday will be a better night of sleeping.
I'm planning on cleaning the doorwall completely and all three chandelier's in the house today. We'll see what I get done.TTFN

Jan, I think most of us had trouble readjusting our sleep patterns and other areas of our lives after wls. My days and nights were so scrambled. The energy surges at 3:00 in the morning were the worst, then I'd want to sleep all afternoon. Things go a lot better when I returned to work and had a definite schedule.

Good morning Sunshine!
I don'****ch Oprah, but I sure wish I would have seen this one. Even the Today show (where Al Roker works!) won't talk about losing weight through surgery. They have a segment with a RD called the "Joy Fit Club" that celebrates people who have lost weight, as they put it "the old fashioned way". or "the hard way". AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Oh well, we know the truth about THAT!
I've increased my protein in preparation for surgery on Thursday and have lost 2.5 lbs. Not really what I wanted to do, really tried to keep it on since I will probably lose some over the course of the next few days anyway.
Yesterday:
latte
bkfst burrito
3/4 PB& J
1/2 protein bar
latte
banana
shrimp creole
SF chocolate pudding w/ PB2 mixed in
protein drink
I have a very long day at work so I'll be taking lots of food with me. BTW I LOVE Atkins chocolate chip granola bars if anyone is looking for a high protein bar

I wanted to stuff a dirty sock in Al Roker's mouth yesterday. He was introducing a man who had lost a lot of weight the "hard way." This from a man who had WLS! I suppose he "had" to say that. Why can't they just say "This man has lost an incredible amount of weight." Saying he did it the hard way sure implies that WLS or Banding is the easy way. Easy only in the fact that I successfully lost a lot of weight; certainly not easy in any other way.

Do you notice that Al Roker is still obese? I do,as is Randy off of American Idol, neither one of them is a success story.
I do not know if Roker had to say this or not,I do know he is not a friend of our community. I struggled with the thought of RNY for 10 years. My husband did not want me to get it,he said he feared for my life, but sabotaged me every time I tried to diet, bringing my favorite foods home each and every time.
After my divorce,it took me a few more years of trying to lose weight, which I did and then I would gain more back!
After becoming ill and having to take massive steroids to live,I was past the point of no return, too huge to diet,I could barely move.
When I was taken in for RNY,weighing 452 pounds that morning,I was more than ready,I had no life left,I had nothing left to lose.
Since that time,I have undergone a metamorphose,I have been tested, but I fear nothing now.
My life is not wonderful in all ways, but I am content, more low keyed in all my reactions.
I have a inner peace,I am so grateful for this. If anyone thinks it is a easy decision to have their insides rerouted,to risk being mal-nourished,and to lose the relationships of people who can not handle your change,I think they should come talk to us!

Hiya Susan,Al Roker is another one who would not come clean about RNY! I now understands Star's reason for keeping quiet, and it is quite understandable, she regrets it and apologizes.
That damn Roker not only denied it.but wrote a diet book! He is not even close to being thin, and that is parr for the course,as he is not an honest man,and obviously has not done the head work.
I hope you do not lose too much weight.
I am hoping your surgery goes smoothly and your recovery is swift.
I hope you can keep us posted.
You are a grand lady.

No, Al Roker had his surgery documented on the Today Show. He talked about how it was his father's dying wish that he lose weight. He also talked many times about how, even though it was the right decision for himself, it might not be the right thing for someone else. His reason for not being more vocal is that he said he didn't want to be the "poster child" for WLS.
Thank you for the kind words, I'll be letting you know as soon as I'm coherent...LOL
