7 days post op and need help and ??'s
Mary,
All surgeries are a shock to our body. Your body has been through a lot. Your emotions are going through a lot. Even the anthessia is hard on us. I would call your PCP explain whats happening and hopefully you can get on something. After a while "we" you can panic over worrying about the panic attacks if you know what I mean. It will all get better. Stay busy with reading , computer, and "let" yourself heal. Rest a lot and sip sip sip, you don't want to dehydrate. But things can be very overwhelming in the beginning BUT the greatest thing is it not only gets better but you will be happier and feel betterand healthier soon.
Keep coming here for support.

Mary,
Sorry you are experiencing panic attacks/anxiety, you got a lot of good suggestions with regard to them though, as for the fluids, just keep a bottle with them handy and if you are having ice pops, broth, protein shakes, all that stuff counts towards your fluid intake as it is pretty much fluid. Don't place high expectations on what you can do right now, just do the best you can and usually each day gets a bit easier.
Best wishes, Laureen

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

Thanks Laureen,
I guess I am doing the best I can considering. I am constantly sipping something so I can get most of my fluids in. I am sure it is not 64 oz. I guess I am trying to hard to do everything right.
I know it is going to get easier, I think having no pain and doing all the walking I am doing is a postitive too. Its just the panic attacks that won't leave me for some reason. Maybe it is hormonal. Could be. I also know it is a shock to your system so it could be that too.
I am trying to stay positive and keeping busy so maybe by tomorrow I will feel better. Hopefully.
Thanks for writing I appreciate all the encouragement people have to offer.

Well I won't beat you with a wet noodle but please note that it is never good to self prescribe medical advise unless you have a medical degree. A lot of medications have nasty side effects when you try to get off them cold turkey. Call your pcp or whoever you have access to, tell them what you did, and ask if that could be causeing your anxiety attacks. Call as soon as possible and if they do not call you back in a reasonable length of time call them again and again and again until you get answers. Then follow instructions. In the meantime breathe in.....breathe out.....etc.
So sorry you are facing this. Hope things calm down real soon.
