GOD BLESS YOU TODAY
JAN COOK
hi jan...i use papaya enzyme pills to get food that is stuck to move out...i chew a couple and presto...going down nice...also try laying on your LEFT side and see if the stuck food goes down for you. it works wonderful!!!
glad to see you doing so well after WLS!!! just remember that your insides need to heal up also!! even if you feel like a million bucks you DID have MAJOR surgery....;-)
Well, I live and learn. I did over do things, much to other's suggestions not to. Today I felt pretty awful, but all in all I'm doing really well. I haven't gotten anything stuck as yet. My nutritionist just suggested that tip in case something happens. I think I'll just buy the papaya enzyme instead, sounds more palatable and I'll be able to carry it in my purse. I'm not a week out yet and I have to keep reminding myself of that. My skin is healing really quickly, but I'm sure my insides aren't as lucky. I'm going to take it real easy for the next couple of days and see if that helps. I didn't even feel like, nor do any walking today. Mostly laid around and/or slept.

I guess I'm really lucky in that I have never had food get stuck. Just chew your food really really well and that will keep the food from sticking in your stoma place. Also, avoid really dry meats. My biggest advice to you is to precut your meat into sizes of food that you would give a baby just starting to eat meat. Really tiny and put it in a baby plate. I still do this. Then, make sure more meat covers it than non meat. That isn't easy for me. In fact, I bought one of those baby plates that has the three dividers in it: a big section for the meat, a small section for the vegetable and a smaller section for some form of dessert, I think. Anyway, I cut up my meat really small, put about a tablespoon of vegetable in each of the other slots and go at it. Like I said, I've never had meat or anything get stuck. I did have problems with white bread once and stopped eating it. It is really gooey and wouldn't move on out and left me feeling full and nauseaous and my mouth started doing that foamy thing. Yuck. So, I don't do white bread, ever.
You will learn how your's works and before you know it, you will have mastered the pouch. LOL.
