Hi There Its Friday and all is well......Friday Thread
Well, I couldn't sleep this morning so I got up at 4:18. ugh. I think I'm just doing too much thinking about the house. We showed it to a repeat customer last night and the husband came out onto the porch, where we were sitting, and said my wife loves your house. It's a beautiful place. They stood and talked with us and then said they were going to go hash things over. Oh how I hope we get a decent offer today. So much is happening at one time tho. I don't know how much packing I'll be allowed to do, only being a week out and all.
I'm a little worried about this surgery too. I find I can eat a whole 6 oz tub of carbmaster yogurt at one sitting without feeling miserable. And last night I had 6 oz of cream of mushroom soup! Am I stretching out my pouch already? I certainly don't want to do that. It's hard to get in all the protein and liquids everyday, but I'm doing my best. Today my nut said I can start on scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, mashed veggies, cottage cheese and meat pate' (like liversausage) and some crunchy crackers. I'll start easy with cottage cheese and it's a good source of protein. Will let you all know how it goes.
Hope everyone has a great Friday and up coming weekend.

I don't think you are strectching your pouch out. In fact, I think that is a myth. I don't remember how much I drank at first. I know that I did spoonfulls and stopped, not because I was full, but because the doctor had me on so much every so often. As you get further away from surgery, you actually will see that you can eat less and I think it has to do with the kinds of foods that you will be eating later. Like, for instance, I can eat a lot of yogurt, but not so much meat. The denser the food, the more filling to the pouch. That's why, or one of the reasons why, they say eat the meat first. And remember, six ounces of soup is really not bad. If you are worried, though, call your doctor's nurse. I was on liquids for so long that I didn't even try the yogurts until three or four weeks out. My doctor really starved me.

Well, I don't think I experienced dumping but it was something. Since today I'm allowed meat pate' and tuna and salmon I made some tuna with mayo. Well, sitting here watching TV I ended up eating the whole can of tuna. YIKES. Didn't think I should be able to do that. Then I make myself scared, then I started feeling yucky (no pain) and tried to throw up, but I was unsuccessful (could never be bulemic). So I laid down on the bed on my left side and fell asleep for three hours. Was that dumping? Never again will I over do like that. I guess I knew I should have stopped, but it just tasted soooo gooooooddddd.
Live and learn I guess.

jan-the yougurt and teh soups "slide" so they will go down better-as jeannie says the dense foods will show you how quickly your pouch will fill up--
be cautious but i don't think you have to worry..
fingers crossed on your house for you! you are father in this than we are!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Hi Jan,
What Jeannie and Margo said. You sound EXACTLY like me. I think at first, my stomach just couldn't feel right...I couldn't tell if I was full and could eat what seemed "too much" same stuff as you. Well, after a bit, oh yeah, I could tell I was full....I think the nerves are also just in shock...just allow so many oz and give you tummy some time to feel the food. The dense stuff, once you can have, it will really show you that your tummy is not as it used to be. No Worries!

Thanks for replying Cheryl. You do know exactly how I feel! Today I had a 6 oz tub of carbmaster yogurt. I think for lunch I'm going to try a scrambled egg or cottage cheese. I'll keep it to about three ounces, or one egg. I'm already feeling like I want to eat, sort of a hunger feeling, but not the same as before. Yesterday was my weekiversary. It doesn't seem like it's just been that short of a time.
Thanks again,
Jan
