what's new? nothing-not a darned thing.....

today i am working early so that i can leave for a bit- michael's vascular surgeon appt is at 9:40 am --this is the last follow up to his 7/1 ER trip--and we are a bit -well-nervous--i'll go back to work after the appt and boss has given the ok to make up whatever time i miss...i know some of you were really nervous when we travelled after the ER trip-obviously the aneurism must not be very big if they waited til today to see him---tho it must be addressed and cared for!

long talk with my mom last nite via phone- always good...

did a wally's shopping trip ...

several OFFers have new avatars-cool! carla took a good pic or two of me at nan's but i don't have them on this computer-hmmmm...

nothing else really...sending special hugs and prayers to you, ruth, today- you are such a pleasure to have on this board.....

hugs and prayers to everybody....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Good morning.  What's new with me?  Hmmmmm

Got Oleta's mother's apartment packed and moved yesterday.

The Rangers ace pitcher pulled a muscle in his butt.

The Rangers won any way.

Off of work the next two nights, then off half a night Thursday.  Only working the part time job Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.

Going to Sam Moon today with Mary's best friend.  Those of you in the Metroplex know what I am talking about.  The rest of you - costume jewelry and purses at wholesale prices.

Just spoke to Mary.  We have been without electricity since 8 PM last night.  Yuck.  Gonna be tough to sleep in the heat.

Have a good day y'all.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

The weekend went by way too fast.  Yesterday hubby and I went to see My Sister's Keeper and let me just say, it made me cry the entire time.  I advice that if you go see it, you take some tissue with you.  It wasn't that great of a movie, but it was sad, very sad.  Afterwards, we went to the mall for a little walking and some retail threrapy, and I found men's tee shirts, the ones with things on them like flaggs and stuff, for 4 bucks.  I bought my son three and my hubby three and I got me three.  I sleep in old teeshirts and these are cheaper than gowns.  And, the XL fits me just like my gown.  And they are very thick.  I think I'll go back and get me three XS, if they have any left, and use them for shirts under my sweaters for the winter.  Oh, I also got me bath products from the bath store.  I love the sweat pea soaps and lotions and it is one of the very few products that doesn't make me itch.  They had buy two get one free, yep, I now have enough lotion and soap for a year.  For Christmas, I get the soaps and lotions and oils and perfumes and put in the girl's, my daughter and DIL, stockings.  I looked at women's tops but could not find one to fit and when I went to the junior sizes, well, let's just say that I am not wearing clothes made for teens.  The women's tops would fit if my shoulders were not so damn narrow or short. Everything hangs off.  I may need to start sewing again.

Today:  Well, teaching and office hours and writing and cooking and that's about it.  When I was in Minnesota, a few of the book reps gave me about fifteen new books and I've been looking them over and may use a couple for my Spring classes.  That's what's good about being a college teacher, you get book reps chasing after you, throwing their books at your feet.  In two more weeks, I get to bring my new kitty home. I cannot wait.

I am exercising in the gym today because it's supposed to be hotter than hell.  I usually do the bike and treadmill.  That's it.  You guys have a great day.

Jeannie, you're much braver than I. If a movie remotely looks to be what I call a "crying movie" I steer clear. I figure life is full of enough sorrow that's free that I don't need to pay to cry. I know plenty of women who say there's nothing like a good cry, but not me!  My face gets red and puffy, my eyes swell shut and I'm miserable. Nope....not spending $8 to be sad.

I do understand that the book was very good, but won't read crying books either.

Have you sewn lately?  The prices of patterns are through the roof! You might do just as well buying something and altering it to fit. I mean...$12-15 for a pattern!!!  Some stores sell them 50% off, but that's still way too much for me to spend.

I usually avoid those really sad movies too; however, I am very curious about those situations where parents are fighting for a child's life and have another child to save the one they are fighting to save.  I had a friend whose cousin's daughter had leukemia and they needed bone marrow and no one matched and they did the same thing; they had genetically chosen children and I say children because the embryo split and became twins.  So, they had plenty of bone marrow and other blood products to take from these two twins.  Not saying they didn't love the kids, because they did. But...

It was sad.

I have sewn and made all of my daughter's maternity clothes.  I still have boxes of patterns from the years back when I did sew.  I will probably buy and alter or have altered.  But I do like to sew so I may start back up.  I could make my grands some really cute little outfits.  But, then there's the time.  Okay, I'll stop.

I went to see the movie and forgot tissue- my daughter had about six napkins and I soaked them all. She was ragging on me afterward that I used all her tissues and she was left without. I told her that she had no idea how close I was to sobbing (which would have embarrassed her to the inth degree) and that I totally controlled it by using the napkins. I really don't mind watching a tear jerker...I figure- it's part of life to live through sadness... I like that the movie is not MY family... I can feel the sadness but not keep it for long.

What appears to be a young man has been PMing me on OH. He has a blocked profile so I can't really tell much about him. His name and manner of speech makes me think he is from Italy. Curious but I may block him.

Miss M is a curious child and notices everything. She questioned why I let my fingernails grow so long, then told her mother to cut my nails. Melanie sat and looked at my nails for a long time.

Melanie then began to check me out more closely. She grabbed my arm and neck, gently tugging. "Grandma, your skin is all wobbly, Why?"

How do I explain that to a 4 year old? Both kids had fun finding my wobbly parts and delighted in announcing to Poppa their findings. Tom sat and had a good chuckle. Big help he was.
