This and that
One reason that I had my wls was to encourage some of my younger family members to have surgery. Was hoping maybe they would follow my example and not go through most of their life obese and unhealthy. I never ever suggested they do the surgery, I know that this is a personal decision and nagging or suggesting is not something I would do. I would just kind of go on and on about how I wished I could have had it done years ago and how much better I feel .
Well to make a long story short my sister who is older then I am is going for her first appt in 2 weeks to see about having the surgery. Never thought she would do it. She was very against me having the surgery . I am so glad that she is considering this and I have my fingers crossed that she does it. Maybe between the two of us some of our kids will consider this.
I am at a standstill in my weight loss, I do know I need to exercise more, eat the right kinds of food and get back for another fill. Maybe with my sister going through this process we can encourage each other.

Exciting isn't it? Knowing that you had a hand in helping someone you love on the road to better health. I know what you mean about not pushing them. I so wanted my daughter to have WLS but if anything would have happened to her I would never ever been able to forgive myself and if there is going to be a problem after any surgery by gum she will be the one to have it ( and she did end up backin the hospital 5 times). She did decide on the surgery and didn't even tell me she was in the process until it was just a couple of weeks before her surgery. I look at her now and how her life has changed and I feel so blessed for all of us.. Hey ,what happened to your picture? are we going to get an updated one?? Best of luck to your sister, she is lucky to have you to turn to.

I know what you mean about not pushing people. I have talked to a few people at work about having the surgery. One woman in particular, who is as heavy as I was, asked me about it. I don't think she was serious, though. She said her doctor said she would never get approved for it because she was healthy. I told her the fact she was obese meant she wasn't healthy. Well, she said, she didn't have diabetes or high blood pressure or anything else, just bad knees. I told her that was my main problem, the arthritis, and as you get older, it gets worse. The main thing to do was to lose the weight before the arthritis gets progressively worse (unfortunately, I was unable to do that). I couldn't believe her doctor told her being obese was being healthy!
