BANDIT UPDATE
well we got the check up and dr said he is pretty sure it isn't pancreitus (sp) so for now he gave him a couple shots and some medicine to take a couple times a day and also put him on a special diet for awhile. his temperature was normal and he didn't have any abdominal pain/tightness/tenderness so dr said he was almost certain it wasn't pancreitus. but if this treatment didn't work then he wants bandit back for blood work and go from there. he said he should be fine soon. sooo we get home and i get some of this special diet food out and ofcourse bandit sticks his nose up in the air...hmmm maybe he just isn't hungry right now?? so right now bandit is resting and i hope the runs stop soon...dr said that it should stop tonight or tomorrow. lets hope its tonight!!! i am so beat from scrubbing the carpets and getting the stains out...club soda worked wonders!!! again THANKYOU to those that offered their advice on what to use to get those stains out!!! and THANKYOU to those that hoped and wished bandit get well soon!!! THANKYOU for being supportive to me once more in my time of need....(((OFF))) ;-)
EDIT: bandit is eating his new food!!! he is spitting the rice out but he IS eating!!!! :-)
Glad to hear it's not pancreatitis; my friend Mary Kay's dog (much older than yours; Denali was 13 when Mary Kay put her to sleep) had that this spring for awhile and they couldn't cure it. It's very bad if Bandit has that. Don't mean to scare you. But like I said, Denali was much older. Hope the special diet works.
I would be very worried if anything ever happened to Bubba because he is her life!! I think he's about 8 years old now.
Hopefully your little guy will rally and be back to normal soon. I'm sorry you have had to deal with the poopiness ..... that cannot be fun.
Also hope your vet bill isn't too high. My friend has pet insurance and it sure came in handy when she needed it recently.
Good luck!!
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen
aloha karen!!!
oh yeah bandit is a sweet little dog...remember when i first saw him? he was sleeping and didn't want to get up...i walked away from him in tears...he instantly got up and wanted me to come back to him and i did...he stole my heart right then and there!!! and thats what i named him...bandit stole my heart he has been a Godsend to me ever since and has been by my side when i cry or feel bad...its like he KNOWS i need him!!!! i miss spike so much but then if he was still with me i wouldn't have this little guy bandit to comfort me like he does. i still cry over spikes awful death...it seems to be easier to talk about but then like right now the tears come once again....the broken finger will be a constant reminder of that awful death....as for the vet bill it was $121.53 this trip...yikes!!! thank GOD for the credit card!!!! bandit is doing better this morning but still pooping in the house during the night...(poop is getting some form to it tho)sooo cleaning carpet again this morning...thanks again for caring and much aloha nui loa to you...
Sorry to hear about Bandit. I can sure relate with how your feeling. My dog has pancreatitis and I have been dealing with special diets with her for the past 8-9 years. Yes, it is very painful for the animal. I can tell when my dog is getting ready to have a bout of it.
My biggest problem right now is trying to explain to my mother that the dog can only have what i say she can, she can NOT eat the cats food, I've asked her to please STOP feeding her tid bits of what she is eating.. it is contast fight with her.
My gizzy lives on boiled skinless, boneless chicken breats. Mixed with a bit of rice, or once in awhile some cottage cheese. I also put some canned green beans or carrots in the mix. I have to make her little dog biscuits and treats now. Yes, it's a lot of work, but she is so well worth it.
There is a blood test (lipase) they can do that costs about $17.50 to see if the the enzymes are high. If you want more info please email me. My dog is very happy and active and yes she is about 13 years old this year, but with treatment she is great...
Sorry for being so long winded here, but this I DO KNOW FIRST HAND.
...and when someone breaks our wings, we simply continue to fly...on a broomstick.
We are flexible.
