Thursday Thread

Well, it's almost Thursday.  I'm still up, obviously.  I went to the doctor today and they said my nausea might be because I'm getting in too much fiber.  I'm taking benefiber and being I'm only getting in around 500 calories it could be too much.  I'm going to lay off of it for a couple of days and see how I feel.  They told me to stop one of my blood pressure pills and see if that would help with the light headedness.  And to help me get in more calories try peanut butter on crackers.

QOTD:  What has made you very happy recently?  We sold our house, or signed the purchase agreement tonight.  The market sure has taken a dump, but at least we got an offer that we could live with.  Hubby was hesitant, but I persisted, and well, I usually win!  The next step is the appraisal.  The gal that's buying it wants to close on or before 9-8-09.  Things are just happening so quickly right now.  I'm going to have to start packing some more stuff.

Sunshine and rainbows to everyone.

Jan, Congrats on the house sale. In this market  that is indeed great news!

Don't mean to rain on your parade but wanted to warn you to  be very careful with the peanut butter and crackers this early in your post WLS journey. At 3 weeks post op after being on liquids and soft foods doctor said I could have some crackers with soups.

Well I turned that into 3 Wheatsworth crackers with peanut butter on them. I thought I would die. I don't know if I ate them too fast or what. But for about 2 hours I was in agony. Couldn't even get sips of water to go down. I was scared that I had really messed things up. After a few hours it finally got better but just want you to be careful.

Thanks I'll be careful.  Haven't tried the crackers yet, but have really wanted to.  Maybe one Ritz will be enough to satisfy my crunch need.

HI Jan and Friends,

Heading home early tomorrow. I think it made it up to that 103-105 area again today. I live in the desert area of SE Washington. We expect hot this time of year, but at least it's dry hot. This humidity just about kills me. When I picked the twins up from daycare they were just wearing diapers.

We came home and shared about 1/4 of a watermelon. I made them pillowcases out of crib sheets  that had over stretched elastic. Now they have big girl pillows to go night night on. They thought that was pretty cool.

I've loved spending the week helping here but look forward to getting back to the gym. Too hot to get out in this much, especially to exercise. Erin's scale looks like I've lost a couple of pounds. Won't weigh in until next wednesday at TOPS so hope I can continue to work the program and my tool. What do I mean "hope"? Hope has nothing to do with it. I will work the program and my tool.

I'm reminded of one of my mom's sayings when I would gripe about something being too hard or boring or any number of things. She would say: "That's why it's called work; otherwise they would call it fun!" A reminder that everything in life that is worthwhile is not necessarily "fun" and that's ok because the reward of getting closer to my goal will make it worth it.

This may be too much info but it's kind of a mini wow I think. I drank tons of water and tea yesterday. On the way home from the beach I needed a bathroom bad, but it's miles and miles of wooded country miles. So after I couldn't take it any more I thought I'd find a secluded spot and "drop and go." I would have never thought about relieving myself like that prior  to WLS. For one I couldn't squat and no vehicle would be large enough to shield me from view and it would take me way too long to accomplish the task.

Well, let me tell you. I know probably way TMI! but I stopped, squatted and was back on my way in less than a minute. Always was kind of jealous of boys going "potty like the cowboys" as my son used to say. Penis envy?? Maybe in this small way. Talk about a liberating moment. When ya gotta go ya gotta go.

With that momentous revelation I'm going to sign off. Have a good one everyone.

Congrats on being about to "cop a quick squat".. 3 weeks ago when my car died I was on the side of the road for 3 hours before being rescued. Silly me I had to go before even leaving town but thought I could hold it.. yea right. no trees and too may cars coming by to go out side so I  crawled into the back seat and almost filled a 32 ounce Kwik Shop Cup.. My mom was in the front seat laughing, she just isn't nice.. I showed her, I handed her the cup to empty..Every day is an adventure.Blessings

Have you started looking for a place to move to?  Guess you really need to kick that in gear.

We have a home in Northern Michigan by Traverse City.  We've been wanting to retire there for two years now (I'm retired, hubby still works).  It's a beautiful area of the state and I've been vacationing there for over 50 years.  My Mom moved up there when my Dad passed and when she passed we bought the house from my brother and sister and re-modeled and added onto it.  It's right across the street from the lake so it's very peaceful.  Most of our stuff is already up there.  Here we have three bedrooms, livingroom and dining room that are totally empty, so we only have to move our bedroom furniture and and a few items from the family room (the rest goes in the trash), the stuff from the garage and the basement, so we're pretty well in gear I'd say.
