Has anyone tried the Flexitarian Diet?

Hi all; I haven't posted in a long time and I've decided part of my problem is I need all of you!
I'm 11 months post op Realize Band, have had multiple medical problems, hospitalizations, and surgeries from April - December last year (not related to WLS), am scheduled for orthopedic surgery 8/20, and have gained back 26 of the 84 lbs. I've lost.
My nutritionist and surgeon have been very supportive and have told me to take care of my health first, then they'll help me work on losing weight. My current labs show I'm malnourished and a little anemic. They've upped my protein from 53 to 70 Gms.
I have trouble with meat and have been investigating different diets, and found this one. It sounds promising - does anyone have any experience with it?

Hello,
I have some very wonderful friends that have had lap band. Yes, I do have a couple friends. The main thing I want to say to you right now is, if you keep that nick name then your setting yourself up for failure. You will not be obeseforever. It may seem like you have been, but you have a tool now to fix that. Think of something nice if you don't want to use your real name, or think of a name that is real but not yours, like mary, or sally or etc???
You've not said what the problems are and that's ok.....but you should be able to follow your surgeons guidlelines now and put your tool to work.

If your going to have any type of surgery or procedure I would suggest you do some protein loading. That helps with recovery.

I do 120 grams a day of supplemented protein, I don't count my food protein, I've had RNY so not sure how much I absorb...but I do know about the supplemented protein.

Wishing you lots of luck....

Thanks for your words of encouragement, Darlene. It's funny, that's what I was told about my name when I was on for the year preop and immediately postop. I had actually run a contest for name suggestions and said I would change it to that, but then found out I can't change - I'd have to actually open a whole new account.
I had another nutritionist also tell me I need more protein loading than what my own had told me - she suggested at least 100 Gms. daily especially since my protein levels are low and I'm preop for orthopedic surgery.
So, what are your thoughts about this diet? I've actually been trying some vegitarian foods because I have a vegan friend, can't eat a lot of meat at a time, and like legumes, cheeses, etc, so I thought this would be a good compromise?
Thanks
Kathy

Like I stated before, I've never heard of the diet....
My thoughts are if you use the supplemented proteins (shakes) and get your grams in, you should do fine, it will also help with weight loss....

Why not open a new account with a new name? you can always log into the old one and copy your stuff over to the new one, then when that's done, just delete the old one or leave it not active...to me it's like an omen......

You can, however, change the name that displays when you post on OH without starting a new account.

I've never heard of the Flexitarian Diet, I just wanted to say that I used to live in your neighborhood - lived in West Springfield for many years.  I hear it's a little rainy up there now!

kathy--i've never heard of the diet either-
glad to see you back posting tho!!
and i agree wholeheartedly with darlene about the name--it does seem like you have branded yourself..if you can't change the name then do open a new acct-  it helps to feel positively about yourself!!!!

do you eat spinach? that helps with anemia- and raisins stuff like that--
i guess i have a problem with "diets" cuz after you stop with them -well- so rethinking your eating would be more in line with the thought process....

anyhow- change your name and stick around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

I thought I'd tried every tired out there but I've never heard of this one.  Do you have a link to a website or information you can share?

I too think you need to change your name........go for something positive.....how about ObeseNoMore.

Best wishes!
