i need more coffee-brb-post away!

oops ! had to restart the computer-
yesterday, my daughter came to spend some time with me- awesome! she has been dieting for a long time and has lost 45.5 # and it shows - i am so proud of her! anyhow- we cleaned out my walkin closet- she hauled two huge huge garbage bags home for herself and my DIL and then we hauled 4 bags to the car for goodwill...went to the basement and looked thru some stuff- she also hauled home 6 "paper" boxes of my son and DIL's very special stuff that they left in their house -and we went thru boxes and boxes of family photos- we were looking for one pic!!!! we did find it -meantime we had a blast !!! she is taking a bunch home to scan in and will use some for blackmail with her friends and brothers!!!! we had chix breasts for supper and michael was not feeling well- he stayed away from us most of the time she was here but that's ok... daughter is facing a change in her life- she is unhappy with her beau- she wants to marry and have kids and he is content not marrying cuz then you don't divorce--so i see them parting ways soon...which will also mean she will be moving...he is an awesome young man and i will be sad to see this however i understand her needs/wants...

so !
we have a showing at 330 today and i am pumped! hoping michael is feeling better when he gets up this morning tho!

got his paperwork for his IVP and cystoscopy-he needs to drink magnesium citrate before the IVP--i only mention this cuz we have been talking bowel prep lately...

next few weeks will be busy with those tests and roxie's vetting- and hopefully an offer on the house????

my daughter cleared up some stuff on my computer and ran a disk scan but i didn't defrag yet- anyhow- she also cleared my history-darn it! so i have to  enter passwords to get into my fave sites- do ya think i can remember all those passwords???  i'm working on it-slow but sure!

we had some rain drops last nite but not enough to really talk about--was hot  and not much breeze...not sure what today holds...

so--what is going on in your world today?? any special plans ???or just lounging with a book or puzzle???i'm gonna defrag!!!!!!

 Margo dont you wish we could clear our own history and past problems as easy as we can on a computer just by pushing a few buttons and defraging:? lol  sounds good to me ....but then who we were makes us who we are ....and for the most part women over 50 are a pretty awesome bunch of women ....i know most on this board are.
We have been cleaning and renovating our rental house since our renters moved out....we really liked them and so wished they would have stayed, but they needed to be in town closer to her dad and i understand that . It takes a good 30 to 45 mins. to get to town from here depending on traffic and that can mean a lot of time when you are talking about someone elderly needing you right now.
Anyway, we have a single lady that lives on disability that is wanting to be in the country that is coming out to see the house today. I am hoping that she is the one that is suppose to be in the house. I think she might really like it according to what all she was asking on the phone and the answers i got from her too. and the lady that lives next door to the rental house is a single lady too so that might be goodl.

Yesterday i planted some more in my fall garden....i have right now okra that is starting to put on...and spag squash, and butternut squash that are starting to bloom...
My tomatoes are going full blast right now. and i am getting about a half a bushel every other day from them....i have made 15 pints of my own hot piacanti sauce...i taste and cook , dont know that i have a recipe lol....well sort of i start with 10 cups of chopped tomatoes. and about 5 cups of green, yellow and red bell peppers, and 2 cups of chopped jalapenios, and a 1/2 cup of chopped garlic, and one cup of chopped onions and chop up a big handful of clentro. last time i made it i was short some jalapenios my plants cant keep up with how many i use lol (not to self next year plant more) any way i combine all of that and start cooking then if it needs something i add something lol  my husband always complains that i make it too hot ...so i have got to make him some that is milder....i guess i will only put about a half cup of jalapenios in it? maybe a 1/4 cup and then let him taste it and see.
anyway i didnt mean to give a cooking lesson lol
we have been getting watermelons out of the garden too. oh yummy ....big huge black diamonds they are so so good. the last one we got out was over 50 pounds . we cut it in half and took the rest over to one of our neighbors. wish there was a way to keep them fresh all year....if i had a root celler could keep them for at least several months...
does anyone ever remember their grandmother makeing water melon rine pickles? i think i will see if i can find that online somewhere. they were so so good, as far as i can remember anyway.
a lot of things i use to think were good when i was a kid arent now. lol..
well got to get busy....need to go sweep up the floor over in the rental house and we have a bunch of tools there that we need to get put up ....
I will keep your showing in my prayers today Margo....i know you all are getting excited. do you have any leads on a job or anything yet in Hawaii? My daughter lived in Hilo for about 4 years. she loved it except for the humidity....and she has asthma and allergies really bad and the ash from the volcanno sometimes got to her . we went over to visit her once and we loved it too .it was so so beautiful. those huge flowers and plants.  phliodendram (sp) vines that we grow here in our house growing wild and leaves as wide as you can stretch your arms out. amazing .
good luck and sounds like you are getting a lot of stuff cleared out....wish i were there to help you im good at doing that and really like doing it too lol....

Your gardens sound like the Garden of Eden. We have one miserable tomato plant which is all show and few tomatoes.  Few ... as in 2, the size of marbles. There is a tomato blight in the area and the plants look so sad.

Annette probably the blight on the tomatoes in your area this year is the cold weather ...Tomatoes dont do well in cold , cloudy  rainy weather... they like lots of sunny warm....also found out that when tomatoes have blossom end rot it is because of the lack of calcium in the soil....i spray a calcium concentrate on them once a week  and i have had some great tomatoes this year....next year i will put it in the soil where the tomatoes are to be....

 I love your cooking lesson ! ! !   I'm not canning too much this year.  I usually make jams, jellies and a few chutneys.  Not sure why but I just am not.

 I've put up some berries, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.  I usually just freeze them with a touch of sugar.

 Last year I put up 21 quarts of apricots; they were sooo sweet.  I used very little sugar.  OMG they are so sour... ugh.  We decided to open them all and make apricot jam.  They do need sugar ! !   

Every Christmas I give away big baskets of home canned goodies.  The kids love it.  My  DIL wouldn't open some of them; they are decorations on her antique kitchen center.  lol  

I usually make my own BBQ sauce but since surgery it doesn't taste right to me.  I've had a few complaints about my taste buds compared to other peoples since wls.  Joking of course.

I wish I had a place for a garden.... remembering when I did and didn't plant anything cause I didn't have time to care for it.  lol

I am so discouraged with my foot .....it doesn't seem to be any better
at all....this may take months.  The second toe curls under and so it's taking a real beating when I walk.  If I could bend to get to the toes, I would put the toe guard on, but the hip rule of no bending past 45 deg. has to be followed strictly.    Oh well....

We had some nice rain yesterday afternoon......I had managed to get out in the morning and water my gardens and flowers....so they got two good drinks.

Good Sunday morning to you, Margo and my OFF family. I hope that today is good for everyone. Mine is going to be another Saturday I think and be hectic. I hope that it stops today though.

I spent a lot of time at David's new house yesterday and into late evening. He met us at the storage unit and dropped off 2 things that he kept in the garage at the old house and then Bill went with him to help him with things at the new one. I of course went rummaging and got a Winnie sweatshirt for $1 and it looks like new...life is good! I get home and I am talking to my sister on the phone and Bill calls...come watch the kids..David has a little water leak. Oh alright. I get there a they fix the little one and then...BAM!...a bigger one starts. Now we are going back over this morning and help finish that up. Heidi worked a double last night and is going to be sleeping so guess who is watching the kids again....yeppers! It is me. But that is alright. I take a book and they watch movies and such...so life is good with a book and talking with the kids...at least I am not having to jump through hoops or anything...that is a doobee no no right now! No hoop jumping per doctor's orders!

The day yesterday was damp and a bit rainy. The temps were nice and good though. I heard that today is going to be sunny and in the low 80's. That is good too. I would rather have the temps of yesterday...high 70's and gentle breeze with the sun...but I guess Mother Nature doesn't care what we want..we get what she wants to give. ha ha

Misty isn't happy with us because she is being alone so much this weekend. I miss seeing her and spending time with her. When we are home she hangs on us and I know that is because she is lonely. Most of the time when we are home she is sleeping on the bed but I guess just knowing that we are here is something for her. I got her a Christmas ornament at a rummage sale yesterday. A cat in a pink flowered hat box..complete with pink paper in it and the cat (the only thing wrong is the cat is white and Misty isn't) is wearing the hat. I got it since Misty is so much a girl! You can tell she is...she just yells out "I am a girl kitty!"

I guess I should go. I have to get dressed and time is wasting. I have to get gas before we go out to David's. I traveled so much to his house yesterday...I went out before coming home to see the new place and then shortly after getting home to go back out...and in between coming home the first time taking Bill to McD's for his and David's lunch. Brother...it was so much more convenient when he lived so much closer. Not that he is that overly far...but closer is better!

I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers are being said for everyone too. I hope that your day today is not good but great! Don't forget to scatter...after all we are gathering good when we scatter!

Good Morning, All

It's good to catch up a little on a Sunday morning.  I woke early, for me, and figured I'd just feed the kitties and go back to bed, but I seem to be wide awake.  Made the coffee, did some dishes, and here I am.

My older son is "home" for the weekend.  He's lived out of state since after college, so "home" for him is over 300 miles away.  He gets back to the area 3-4 times a year.  We haven't done much this weekend, just enjoyed being around each other, talked, enjoyed some time together.  We hit a few yard sales yesterday, mostly to humor Mom, I think, then came home and sat on the deck, he with his computer or a book, me either reading or just puttering around.  We both live alone, and are pretty solitary in our habits, so it's comfortable for both of us.  Today he'll go visit his Dad, and I may do some shopping, and he has to be at the airport by 4. 

My usual exciting weekend......

I got the new job, and will start as soon as my present employer releases me.  I'll give 2 weeks notice, but they want me to stay on a couple more months, which isn't going to happen.  Maybe an extra two weeks, but that's it.  Both places have to cooperate with each other, as it's a transfer within the department, but I want GONE from where I am!  Maybe I can work it so I leave for Dallas in one position, and come home into a different one.  THAT sounds like a plan, and I love it when a plan comes together!
