I hate teaching Comp I.  I often wonder what the hell they learn in high school. LOL.  But, they usually catch on pretty quickly.

What I've found is students usually make the same mistakes over and over.  They do not know how to use the comma or semicolon and they cannot support their argument or write a good thesis statement to save their life.  It is hard work teaching these kids, but they learn.

Sometimes I could overlook the errors when I happened to come across a rare original thought! We had a lot of fun with 6th grade bloopers. I would return graded papers but save some "gems." Anonymously we would share them in class. The kids got a good laugh and really learned the value of not trusting "spell check" without reading. One girl's science paper about the octopus referred to its "testicles" instead of "tenticles."  Bet that young lady reread after spell checking after that one!

I agree.  It is nice to see students work to learn the basics and really improve their writing ability.

GOOD MORNING MARGO. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME TO POST ON THIS THREAD.  I GET TO GO SEE MY PARENTS TODAY. THEY WENT IN THEIR RV TO FUN VALLEY COLORADO FOR TWO WEEKS AND GOT BACK YESTERDAY.  THEY ARE WAY TO OLD TO DO THIS AND I THINK MY DAD FINALLY REALIZED IT ON THIS TRIP, THEY ARE IN THEIR 80'S AND NOT IN GOOD HEALTH.  I'M JUST GLAD THEY GOT BACK SAFE. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM.

AFTER THAT IS A LITTLE GROCERY SHOPPING AND THEN GETTING READY FOR MY DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT TOMORROW. I LIVE IN AMARILLO, TX AND MY DOC IS IN WICHITA FALLS, TX ABOUT  A FIVE HOUR DRIVE FROM HERE.  I HAVE A HERNIA THAT REALLY NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. IT IS HUGE AND IS STARTING TO HURT AT TIMES.  HE IS ALSO GOING TO DO A TT AT THE SAME TIME.  I HOPE HE WILL DO IT THIS MONTH. I AM READY TO GET IT OVER WITH. I HAVE GONE ON THE PLASTICS BOARD AND THERE CERTAINLY A LOT OF HORROR STORIES.  SCARES ME.

HOPE U ALL HAVE A GOOD DAY AND GET TO DO SOME DOWN TIME. VICK

Hi Margo  -  It's a beautiful day here in southwestern Ontario.  I guess that it rained last night because I saw that the ground was wet at 9 this morning.  We need more rain.
I planted two tomato plants in planters this year and have a plethora of fruit that is turning red.  Can't wait to start adding them to my salads.
Not much going on today - my young guy helper is coming tomorrow and we are going to give away more "stuff".  It makes for a satisfying day to see obsolete things go out the door.  Other than that, I'll just be glad today that I'm still on vacation for four more weeks and then I'll be back to the whirlwind that is my life when teaching.
I hope that all the stars align and your house sells soon.

HI!  It's been a nice, yet hot Sunday.

Margo, hope the showing went well and you get an offer.

I took a nice long shower this morning (don't want anyone to think I don't bath on a regular basis, I've been not been able to due to surgery)........simple pleasure......felt so nice!

I cooked our traditional Sunday Breakfast (more like a brunch but then we eat a lite lunch later too)...for some reason it came out extra yummy today.

Matthew is busy in the kitchen....he's cooking dinner........homemade Turkish pizza, called Lahmacun.  It's delicious........a lot of work but so good!  When we do it we normally make a double batch and freeze some for another day.

I got to have a nice long chat with my parents.....we haven't spoken in far too long so it was nice to catch up.

Looks like my BF from NY will coming for a visit at the end of the month.  Need to nail down the timing with her because I'm planning my Lower Body Lift for the end of Aug or first week of Sept.  I'll wait till early Sept so I can see her.  She's truly my BF and I have not seen her since last Nov and I miss her tremendously!!   I hope she brings her girls.....they are like nieces to me.

I think my niece and her daughter might be coming in October...I hope, I hope, I hope!

Hopefully tomorrow I'll hear something from the title co on the beach house....supposed to close in just over a week.
Guess what.......we are leaning towards moving to the beach house.

I going thru withdrawal.........no tea.........forgot to put them on the shopping list the other day.  MAN I feel tired without my caffeine!

Hope you all are doing and feeling well.

Margo,  How'd the showing go?  Does it look promising?  I'll think good thoughts for you.
Packed my two dressers and they're in the trailer right now as well as the computer desk and the night stand.  Got some boxes packed, but hubby says 'more, more'  I tell him I shouldn't be doing a lot, but he says just sit on a chair....

I'll do what I can, but I'm NOT GOING TO OVER-DO THIS TIME.

If you're moving up to Traverse City area, Nan Horten lives up there. You could hook up with her. She has a big spread near there. Nice lady, you'd like her. Has some great WLS-friendly recipes too ... she's always cooking, I swear.

I'll have to get in touch with her when I move there.  I'm actually going to be in Interlochen, just a little south west of Traverse about 13 miles.
