I am home... missing work

My back has been really hurting me since Friday... had to move a lot of weapons that were new i.e. still in the box and either tweaked something or maybe muscle strain... dunno.

I was able to make it through work yesterday... and the more I worked the more the back loosened up and felt better. Last night it tightened up really bad and I have been up all night.. impossible to get even vaguely comfortable.

It feels like muscle spasms... I can feel it start to happen and I just brace for it... then the muscle on the right side knots up, pain shoots through me, then it fades...

I am going to the doctors as soon as I can today... at the very least I need something to stop those spasms...

Anyone ever had something like this??

no--sorry-but sending a hug and a prayer...
actually i did have spasms like that in my tummy right after my RNY--i would go to stand up and they would attack--a shot in the belly took care of them-not sure they are the same as yours tho since this was surgery induced type thing...

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Years ago when I was desmoking my car, one of the many times I quit smoking before I finally succeeded 6 years ago, on a bright early spring day, instead of going around the car to clean the top of it, I stood on the door sill and stretched across it, was fine at the time, but the next morning, I had such spasms and pain, not knowing better I thought I was having some kind of problem. . .  short story, went to ER and found I had pulled a muscle. . .  musle relaxers and a week in bed was what the doctor ordered. . .  taught me not to take the lazy way out, which meant in the future, I took my car to the car wash (lol). . .  hope you feel better!

Hugs, Laureen

My family doctor had me to use both ice pack and heat pad on my back.  10 minutes each several times a day.  It did help sooth it but still had pain at times.  Perhaps you can do it of the morning before work and then evening as soon as you get home and again before going to bed.  Hope this helps.  Get Better Soon, Marc!

I have degenerative disc disease in my lower back and my back goes into spasms anytime I move anything heavy (20 lbs.), or stub my toe (yes!), turn while I'm moving something, etc.,   The best thing for me to do before I go to the chiropractor is to ice my back.  It takes the pain away almost immediately.  Heat seems to exacerbate the problem.  I would rather use heat because it would feel better initially on my back, but ice is better.

Had the exact same thing once only in my neck muscles. Hurt like H-E-DOUBLETOOTHPICK. Get ya some of those real good muscle relaxers, make you feel like a new man.

Marc....sorry you are still in so much pain.

I am happy to hear that you are going to the doctor today. Get some Flexeral or some other good muscle relaxer....that an ice should make it all better!!

Sounds like everyone has given you the same advice I would give.  Ice it!  Doesn't sound too pleasant, but it does work.  I've also had the Dr. say ice then heat, but the ice really seemed to help the most.

Good luck.  Hope you're feeling better soon.

HI Mark - sorry you hurt!!    Hope the doc helps you soon!

In california, that would be a Worker's Comp injury.  Just mentioning that in case you have not thought of it.  Maybe the laws are different in GA.  In CA, your employer would be responsible for the cost of your care.

Feel better soon.
