Good morning Karen, Margo, George & the Rest of your OFFr's,

Just a quick hello before I run off to get ready for work.  Trying to stay in touch, I'll get back later, hopefully, and read all about your lives, but mine is quiet today, just another work day (thank God I have a job) and than hanging with dear old Dillinger this evening, he's having another good day, so it seems. . .

Hugs, prayers and lots of love, Laureen

Morning Miss Karen!

Gee, between the heat and insomnia you're having a rough time of it. Hope all of it settles down soon. You're a braver woman than I for taking those babies on the plane!  I can offer no helpful suggestions there except to wish you good luck!!

Gary has his pre-colonscopy prep today. I had one a year ago or so and have been trying to tell him it's not so bad(the test itself, that is), but until our doctor's nurse told him what a piece of cake it is, he didn't believe me.  Go figure. Guess you need letters after your name to add credibility***sigh****
Thankfully, I have a long day at work, so he's on his own....Hehe

Guess there's not much for me to say today. I can wish everyone a great day and a happy one!

Susan

Hi everyone!

I fell asleep late last night but got up at 6am this morning.   I went through two garbage bags of yarn someone gave me.   I think I will start crocheting again.   I have much to do this morning and have my first doc appointment post op.  I lost 21 lbs I gained in the hospital plus 8 more.  I think that was pretty good.  I think it took three weeks.  Can someone tell me how much you drink in a sitting.  For instance your protein drink and how long it takes?

I think I am drinking too fast but no ill affects.  I feel wonderful since I had my surgery.  No major problems.

Well back to sorting out yarn.

Today is my eleven-year-olds eleventh birthday.  I bought him a really nice tackle box and about fifty bucks worth of lures.  He and I took a trip to the sports place last week and he picked it all out.  He is the fisherman and hunter.  It seems that every birthday, I'm either buying him some kind of rod and reel, a gun, some kind of bullets and hunting clothes, and this year, I got his new fishing stuff.  His old one, the one he got when he was four, has finally bit the dust.

Today, I am going to my office equipped with ear plugs.  They are drilling and giving me a huge headache.  After I spend about six hours in my office doing the end of the semester crap, I'm coming home to watch So You Think....  This week, no kids to keep me occupied.

So, you guys have a good day.

It's a nice cool morning here in southwest Michigan.....the weekend forecast is for the 90's -- would you believe the last 90 degree day we had was back in early June.......July weather was really nice.

I'm eating wt control oatmeal this morning and for some strange reason it's not sitting too well -- never happened before!

Work this morning, beauty shop appt. at noon, and back to the Medical Supply place this afternoon to hopefully find a brace that fits.

Massage gal really worked hard on my foot yesterday ....a lot of places were really tight and sore, but felt great after she worked on them.

My support group is supposed to have a table at our local Health Fair, so far no one has volunteered to help me.......won't do it by myself.

Better get going now - good wishes to all.

I learned many years ago with my support group to only sign up for stuff that I was willing to do by myself. The rule is that most time no one will help.....once in awhile you will find some eager person to help, but then they move on......

Don't be discouraged.....keep trying....

Good Morning Karen and all,

I say better sleep through chemicals. That's what I resort to...have been an insomniac since my 30s. Can get to sleep OK, but wake up way too early.

Hmmm...flying is terrifying to me, but with babies? You are a brave woman!

Mother-in-law arrives today. Tom will be home during the day so they should have some good mother son time. He will have to go to Mass every morning. Hee hee. I am so sad I will have to be at work.

It is suppose to be cooling off this week. We go up to the winery for our annual Evening Under the Stars event. Nice dinner and music and auction outside. We always bring our own picnic too. It will be our 11th or 12th time. We are taking Tom's mom this time and wouldn't you know thunder and lightning are expected. Darn! Hope it doesn't rain.

Well here's to a great day for you all,
Cheryl

Kaern - a while ago you posted a site to make our own med ID cards. www.medids.com  The cards are easy to make and perfect.

A person in the support group asked me about med alert bracelets. She heard from somebody that we could run into trouble if unconscious and EMT's tried to insert an NG tube in our pouch. That somebody also told her that EMT's ignore the bracelets.

I askedmy daughter who was the Director of the paramedic program at Westchester College. She said that the first thing they look for is a medic alert bracelet. Seldom do they go through a purse looking for information.

In the field, the NG tube is only used for babies to let air out of the stomach, not used on adults. The tube for the airway for adults, As she explained it to me "different plumbing" for air and stomach. Not a problem.

I asked about the possibility of them pushing and/or hurting our pouch. She said if there is resistance, they stop pushing.

That made me feel better. I just hope all EMT's are well trained.

In October, when I had the asthma attack from hell, friend found me, and hubby had her call 911 and the people came and they intubated me in my home and used a tube to go into my lung.  Hubby kept telling them, he got there before they took me, that I had a pouch and not to put tubes in me and they said, it is in her lungs.  So, I think airways are what they open and not stomachs; unless you take an overdose, and then, they might drop a tube, but I even doubt that they would do that in the field.  The ER doctors are who I fear.  When I had my first bout with the ulcers, I sat in the ER for twelve hours with no water and with me saying I need water and they came and drew blood and rushed in and said, you're dehydrated and I said, do you think and the ER doc came and said, you are dehydrated and I said, I've been telling you I am a bypass patient and cannot go withou****er.  Got me a really fast IV going. LOL.  Yep, it's the doctors who I fear.

Maybe that's why it is called "practicing" medicine?
