Toddles and Tiaras

Do any of you guys watch that reality program toddlers and tiaras?  I watched it last week and am about to explode.  Please tell me why those men and women still have custody of those girls?  Talk about abuse and sexualizing a child. 

What do you guys think about sexualizing children?  I mean, dressing them and forcing them to prance and pose sexually.  They call them beauty pagents, but from that program, they seem like they are almost crossing the line into kiddie porn. 

I think those parents have serious psychiatric problems, and so will some of those children 10 years from now.

I so agree.  I felt so sorry for one of the babies that kept crying and the crazy mom would do hand puppets to get her to sit still for hair spray.  They sprayed tons on her hair and she gagged and coughed.  Then the mother said, we have to head to the doctor now, she has a fever.  My gosh, I'd have gone to the doctor before getting hair and nails on my two year old.  Well, no hair and nails on a child.  It is just sad.

I so agree, Jeannie...........it's child abuse as far as I'm concerned.  What are those stupid mothers thinking?  Age 18 is more appropriate for being in a "beauty pagent (sp) and then I'm not sure about that....I qui****ching Miss America show years ago.

Those stupid mothers stand out and do the routines with their children and it is sickening.  I don'****ch miss america either.  They started allowing boob jobs and nose jobs and other kinds of jobs so I thought it isn't real beauty if it is man made.  Is it?

I dont have tv, but have seen clips of this on the internet, when they were advertising it, and was appalled! I so agree Jeannie! Those parents should lose all parental rights,,that is kiddie porn as far as Im concerned,,and certainly mental and emotional abuse. So sad that people find that entertaining...only a pedophile would enjoy such a program!

Jeannie, I so agree with you. What are those parents thinking about. I also believe those that support these "beauty pageants" should be stopped. This is one of my biggest pet peaves!!!!

All those pagents do is start objectifying those girls as infants so that when they are adults, they only see themselves through the lens of perfection.  Great beginning for an eating disorder or sexually promiscuious life.  It saddens me and I've written to the channal that puts this crap on.

That whole thing just totally disgusts me and the way that some of them carry on....the parents say that they are doing this because the kids want to...bologna! You can tell by the way some of the kids go on they don't want to be there.

I agree that it is kiddie porn....you and I both know that pedophiles love this kind of stuff. I think it should be against the law.

And Pat, I stopped watching those adult beauty pageants years ago too. I know when I was a kid I would watch them and love the beautiful gowns they wore. I could picture myself there...like a kid that wears Chubbies would ever be there.....ha ha
