Dee,

How sad about your Grace!!!!!  I'm so sorry this happened.  I can't imagine losing my Obi.  I bring her to work with me every day.  I have a home office and her play pen is in here.  She loves it.  That's what she talks so much because I talk to her so much - lol -

Grace was with me 24/7, too. We would carry on conversations...she was smarter than some people I know!  LOL!!! I have an online do-rag business so she was around my sewing machines all the time. She could perfectly mimic all 3 machines, complete with the variations in sounds between them! Since they don't learn to tal****il almost a year old, the sounds they can make ar amazing and so real!

Thanks Debbie. Obi sounds like good company for you.

<--- Does Obi look like this? I had to Google African Grey. Very pretty birds.

YES, this picture is what Obi looks like.  She's something else.

Thanks for sharing, Deb!

African Greys are amazing birds. I think the most intelligent of the whole flock.  We had a Grey Cheek Parakeet( AKA Pocket Parrot) for 13 years. I fed him with a spoon when he wasn't even fully feathered, and I still miss him. We "communicated" with our own little whistles and clicks, but he never spoke.

Obi's vocabulary is really funny. Remind me to keep my hat away from her if I ever visit...LOL

Susan,

LOL - that's so funny!  Birds are amazing, and she is definitely my little friend.

Oh what a joy to have a bird like that for a friend!
We had a ****atiel for many years- I rescued her from a co-worker...
she had a bunch of wild kids, a dog, and a cat. the kids would take the bird out of the cage and put her on the dog's back and the cat would try to attack her!

BTW- they also never cleaned her cage! Thankfuly my husband did a great job on sanitizing the cage and cleaning her up!

Her name was SUNNY! and she truly was we had her for 10+ years.
she was a delight!

A friend had a big GREEN Parrot and that girl would say....
as you were getting ready to leave the house....

"I wanna get outta here!" but she would never budge off of her perch- she loved her Momma! But she would just repeat that phrase until I was out the door!

I have held Macaws at Busch Gardens Tampa when i was a little kid.
and as a grown up during the BIRD show had a VULTURE fly to my arm and eat meat out of the palm of my hand. (it was in the leather glove they put on me to protect my arm!) while that wasn't the prettiest bird- it still displayed alot of smarts.

such wonderful creatures for us to enjoy & protect!!!

So glad you are enjoying your little friend to the fullest!

How sweet of you to rescue Sunny!  I love birds and it sounds like you do too!  They are so delightful and beautiful.

LOL - Thanks, I do enjoy Obi.  She's at work with me now just gibbering away.  She just said "Awwww, I love good girl".  For some reason she can't quite put the word 'you' with I love, yet she'll say "You want a cracker?" and stuff like that.

Thanks for sharing your bird stories.  I love the "I wanna get outta here!"  LOL - too funny!
