Surgery update
Hello everyone,
Since I posted recently that I was having a revision today, I wanted to update for you. I was taken into the OR, put under general anesthesia, and woke up to find out they were not able to perform the procedure. The Rose Procedure is done through the esophagus and instruments are used to lessen the size of the pouch and stoma. Due to the fact that I had esophagitis which had closed the area, they could not do the procedure. The surgeon said the opening will likely open up again. So, here I am. No revision. This was a private pay procedure, so I am needless to say very disappointed. He is going to refer me to another surgeon who does a different procedure. I have not actually talked to my surgeon about it because the information was relayed to the person who was there with me. However, any further procedure which is private pay is out of the question.
Since I am on a Medicare insurance plan, I would be interested if any of you know if there is any Medicare plan which will cover a revision under any cir****tances. I will be investigating that area. I can change to a different plan near the end of the year if I find one that will cover my revision. In the meantime, I just plan to be more vigilant about my eating habits. I always try to be positive, so I suppose this was not the right thing for me.
Thanks for your interest and support.

What about Stomaphyx? or are you wanting something more drastic like a DS? can they not band you? medicare covers bands I think now...some people I know are opting for banding for revisions....
There are lots of different methods and lots depepnds on what you and your surgeon want also.
Sorry about the ROSE....I am doing research into that out here for a few people I know...
