What did your husbands or significant others do
Hi Debbie,
I didn't need to be on a pre-op diet, but I do remember when I came home from the hospital Gary wouldn't eat in front of me. He was so worried that I would be tempted to stray from my plan, he just wouldn't do it. Finally, I had to get kind of firm with him, that I needed to be around him not only when he ate, but to cook for him too. It was my decision to have the surgery, I was the one who needed to change her lifestyle, not him. After all, I wasn't going to live my life in bubble and he wouldn't be the only person I was going to be around when they ate. We both adjusted.
Let your husband help and support you in whatever way he can. It will make both of you feel better!

Debbie,
I cooked for DH before & soon after my wls. It wasn't a problem for me, as my mind was made up that my eating habits were now to be different. This mind control worked pretty well for the two months prior to wls & about 10 months after surgery. THEN, with increased pouch capacity and the loss of the newness of all this, I began to be tempted again to eat the wrong things & eat too much. That's when I had to ask him not to eat things that tempted me when I was around. Luckily for him, he has no weight problem. Since I'm gone alot, he would cook for himself & even clean up the mess & air out the house before I came home. Then, he would also eat healthy with me. For me, this has been a BIG HELP!!!

hi debbie
my Bob does much of his own cooking, but he did before my surgery too.
just take it day by day, and if there are really things that trigger you, im sure
he will understand if you dont cook them for awhile.
just make sure he is getting plenty of fluids if he is working outside in the
heat. that is more important even then the food.
mostly , dont worry, some of these things just take care of themselves, and im sure
after a lifetime of cooking for DH< a few weeks without you cooking, or with him cooking wont
hurt
hugs, be safe and well, jacki

Thanks for answering everyone, you've all made me feel better. I think things will work out fine, I'm just realizing that I'm about to have a huge lifetime change and it's already beginning. DH is loving all the FF/SF jello I made....guess I'd better make extra now - lol
Thanks again for all the support. I love OFF.

Thanks for answering, George. LOL - I'm sure you appreciate Mary's cooking! My husband loves to cook on Sunday afternoons while watching football, but he loves to cook all the "rich" foods. Let's hope he stays out of the kitchen until I get this surgery and eating under control - lol - all kidding aside, though, he's been very supportive.

Debbie, working two jobs, up to 75 hours a week, I appreciate her cooking more than she knows. And I tell her every day. She also gets most of my food together for my lunch and supper for that day. My omelet is already made when I get up in the afternoon. My alarm used to be set for 1:30PM, now I set it for 1:45. Hey, 15 minutes is 15 minutes.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
