The Monday What's New Revue
Aloha George and OFF family,
Well, life goes up and down, and right now it's just plain crazy. It is just beginning to get light outside and I'm showered, dressed and getting ready to go out for last minute supplies before this hurricane hits later today. Felicia have moved north now tracking directly toward Maui! It is a tropical storm at the moment, and we are hoping by tonight it will break down to a tropical depression which would mean just lots of rain, wind and high surf. Still....you just never know. Everyone is nervous.
Ironically, the surfers are delighted and waiting eagerly for the 15 to 20 foot surf that is expected on the east shores. They are crazy! Right now as it gets light, the ocean is smooth, the palm trees are gently swaying and you'd never know there is a monster storm just a few hundred miles away. At least it is NOT the Cat. 4 that it started at. We would all be panicking right about now.
The news is all shelters, airport closures, school closures, etc. etc. Just hearing that makes everyone antsy. FEMA is here........also scary stuff!
It is calming for me to come in here and read about your lives. I hate hearing about those in pain or hurting emotionally, but I love hearing people get through those hurdles (Linda, Annette, Margo, Brenda....so many others.) You keep me grounded when I want to do the hot air balloon trick and fly away.....Ha!
Now.....everyone blow really hard and maybe Felicia will drop away from the islands...........LOL
With so much aloha and mahalo,
Maui Karen

Batten down the hatches!!!! I'll be keeping an eye on the Weather Channel this evening. Hope you're safe and secure in your little home. I know you and your neighbors will take good care of each other.
Hey....maybe a good wind will take the place of termite tenting
Just trying to find the pony in the pile of poo
Love ya, honey!!

I was thinking about you this morning when the weather folks talked about Felicia. Praying she down grades to a depression.
After going thru IKE last year, I truly understand what you are going thru right now!!
Keep us posted.

Hi George and all my OFF friends,
Very busy this summer. Son, DIL and Grands came on Sat. for a few hours. We had ice cream cake for Sadie's 2nd birthday. Then they were off to NJ to volunteer at a week of camp. DIL is 8 months pregnant with our #4 grandbaby. God bless her. I took 74 pictures before they left! The grands had a great time playing with their second cousins. I'll post a picture tonight of the whole gang.
Tonight we are going to a picnic for the English and Irish exchange Boy Scouts that our troop hosts in the summer. They will be going home this week. The Irish Scoutmaster and his wife are friends so it will be good to see them.
Tomorrow is the concert on the green in our town so we will go to that. My car goes in the shop on Weds. Front end is making a noise very similar to what was going on in Feb. when we had to have the right wheel hub replaced. That was $650. UGGGGH. We don't need this expense right now.
My sisters and I are planning a day trip to Essex, CT on the 22nd. Will just be walking around the scenic town, doing the museums and taking a steamboat ride on the CT River. Last year we went to Stockbridge, MA and decided to do something again this year. We have so much fun.
Better get back to work. Karen, I hope that storm takes a turn and misses you entirely.

Hi all!
This weekend I did more dry walling, sanding, and painting. I also tried to repair the textured celling that I had to scrape back to do the joints. I got the basement family room all done but the new cabnets under the bar.
I also have the main wall in the old basement garage which is now my DH's man room when It gets done. I still have to finish the laundry room and "water pump" room where the mess started at.
I watched the grands yesterday and have them again tonight. After the grands left yesterday am, we had to move out all the living room furniture for the new that came this afternoon.
