Spine Doc/MRI/Blood work results!!
Hi There
Just came from the Spine Doc & looks like Back surgery is in my future.
Not something I want, but, does not appear to be any other option. I
have a compression fracture at my T8 & T9 Vertabrae area. He will need
to fill the area with cement to keep from the fracture from getting
worse & possibly paralyzing me. Then after the area is filled with the
cement put pins & a bar to stablize the area. prpobaly a week in hospital. the
other surgery is a 6 hr surgery & because of my diabetis
too risky. So this is option 2 & only a hour surgery. This is most likely caused
from osteoperosis which I will have a dexa scan to tell
me how bad that is. I am not looking forward to this, but, if I want to keep
walking & standing will have to do something to stop this from
colapsing. I saw the MRI pic's & does not look good at all. He also
said the Chiropractor in San Diego that did my Adjustment before I left
& moved back here, probably helped big time in this fracture becoming
this bad. I don't have any proof, so can't sue, but, sure wish I could.
I was in so much pain from that adjustment & knew he had done something
wrong back then, I have not been the same since. Will let you know more when I
here when this surgery will come about. I also wen to my regular PCP yesterday &
my Iron is back in the toilet. My iron sat was 13 & ferritin 9 so back on iron script
as soon as I pick up from pharmacy. (does not look like insurnace will cover)
My b-12 was low as will, so have upped that starting today & will have it recheckd
in a few months.

That sounds lousy - sorry to hear you are having these problems. Have you obtained a second opinion? I know docs don't like chiropractors, as a rule. On the other hand, I am also leery of chiropractors.
Best of luck to you .. I hope you get a second opinion - especially with something like back surgery.

My brother has the same issues occuring in his cervical spine (not fractured, but compressed and probably worsened by a chiropractor). He has not gone back to his chiropractor since; the chiro actually gave him the name of his second opinion doctor, however, who has convinced my brother to hold off on surgery for now (he'll probably have it eventually, after he's laid off ... but still has insurance).
You might want to get a second opinion (I know you don't have insurance, but if you can get a second opinion, it would be worth it).
Good luck to you ... thoraic area is not the best area to hae a problem.
If you start taking iron, take it with Vit C, too, because it helps with the absorption.

Thanks Eileen. I am pretty sure the chiro sure did not help the situation atl all. Probably
already weakened by the osteoperosis, but, Iam 99 % sure he caused the fracture.
I do have insurance through the Stat of AZ. Which is not great, but, it is something.
This Doc is the best in the area & the other option in surgery, is out of the question
even to him. That was a 6 hr surgery & with my diabetis & high BP said to risky.
This one will only be about an hour & less recovery time than the other one he mentioned. Still in the talking stages. Need to think more on it & get a lot more info
before I commit to anything. If I don't do this I could become paralyzed from anymore
damage & I sure don't want that to happen at 55. I am working on getting the iron I
need. (has to be prior authorized by Insurnace) Will start that soon. Working on the b-12 ^ protien for now.
