Not lost just finally connected!
I am sure they're a very good company most of the time, but I would not give a great recommendation to the POD system! They kept ours in Denver for an extra week, then shipped them at the last minute so we were scurrying to find a son who could fly down and help my DH unload the things. I'm not much of a help with hauling stuff, although I am up to my eyebrows with newspaper from trying to empty some of the zillions of boxes. A third POD still sat in Denver until the 5th. Now they say that won't be delivered until the 20th! Of course parts and pieces needed are in that box...like the monitor I need so my video phone can be hooked up. Email is not good enough once I got used to VPing my deaf friends and signing face to face over the lines.
I found a support group here but haven't gone yet.
We've been swimming/water walking every evening and that's making my knee feel better. I would not suggest moving, etc. 3 weeks post-op. It has been a challenge. But I'm on the mend and feeling good.
As everyone seems to want to know, the answer is no, we're not melting. Early morning, late afternoon are the only sane times to be out and about. From an air conditioned house to an air conditioned car things are possible to get accomplished.
Cheers,
Daffodil Rusty

Good to see you back, Rusty!
Having lived in Georgia for a year and a half, I remember how it was ... you go from air conditioned house to air conditioned car to air conditioned office ... and that was in high humidity too. At least in Arizona it's a dry heat (if that helps any!)
Enjoy your new home once you get everything and get rid of the newspaper piles (I remember how challenging that can be ... I've done it so many times, and so many times ... four ... long distance).

Hi Eileen-
As far as I know, there will only be one more move...to our new home once it's built.
I do agree that dry heat is better then humid. It is raining this morning and I'm sure all of the valley is celebrating. The news has daily quoted the lack of normal moisture by this time of the year. It's not much, their normal moisture, but it is something. So I marched out to walk the dog with gladness in my heart for this very parched land. This rental home is only for the 6-7 months it takes to build so I'm trying not to unpack every box. The garage is lined with those boxes I hope can wait.
Have sa good day!
Cheers,
Rusty

Hi Rusty- I am new here (had surgery July 16).
I'm from Denver and have lived in South Florida for the last 13 years. I will never get used to the heat. Here, it is humid and hot. AZ is just hot. But 110 degrees is hot, whether humid or dry.
If I remember correctly, it cools down somewhat at night there, though. Here, it's 90 degrees at 1 AM and humid. It is AC to AC.

We're adjusting quickly. It may be 110-115 during the day but by 6:30 p.m. when we go swimming it's a lovely 100 degrees and we think it's pleasant to go for a walk! Sounds crazy but I really do feel comfy once 10 or 15 degrees drop away.
Welcome and best wishes on your continued healthy healing.

Yay! Glad to hear from you and that you've landed safely! Having just completed the sell a house, move to apartment, build a house, unload 3 storage units (what IS in that box? and why did I save it?) and settle into a new home this past October I so understand. And ours was just across town! Hang in there. Glad the new knee is coming along. Come post and visit when you get a chance. We love hearing from you.

In my travels I've lived in plenty of humid places and I must admit that dry heat is better. Not for one's complexion of course but definitely for comfort. Our next move wil be to our new home once it's built, I'm quite excited about it because we're having as much done to accomodate walkers, etc. as possible seeing as I will face many more rounds of knee surgeries...if I live that long. Our house will be just a few miles away, so no long distance this next time. Am scavenging thru boxes to find what I absolutely must have and repacking the rest to sit in the garage until we reach our final destination.
Cheers,
Daffy Rusty
