Eat Your Food Naked

Lean, healthy salads, fish and chicken quickly turn into high-calorie indulgences with the addition of dressings and sauces. Particularly when you're dining out, order salad dressings and other sauces on the side. This way, you have control over how much or how little you add. When you order grilled fish or vegetables, ask that the food either be grilled without butter or oil or prepared "light," with as little oil or butter as possible

This is a good one, Darlene. I have done this for years and I can't stand it done any other way.

This was a great tip...and naked isn't always bad!

I learned this one the hard way last weekend. At a seafood place I ordered grilled shrimp, scallops and veggies thinking I would get some scrumption stuff. When it arrived it was swimming in greasy ...something, I assume it was butter. It never dawned on me I'd have to tell them not to add butter to grilled food. Lordy....DH's fried shrimp were WAY less greasy! I ended up wiping each shrimp and scallop with napkins to get rid of most of the grease.

I'm finding more and more food I like better cooked at home!

Since wls, I have learned to avoid the dressings.  I use a little on occassion, but as a rule, I just eat the salad with nothing.   I do ask for the light grill.  Here lately, though, I have been using the dressings for the extra calories, but when I am back to a healthy weight, I will watch all of that.  I quit buying butter so long ago because of hubby's problems; however, I started putting it on my toast to bump up the calories.  I love tomatoes dipped in salt. LOL

We aren't even allowed to wear sleeveless shirts or dresses at work so I think if I ate my lunch naked I would get in trouble, plus co-workers would be unable to eat their food and would never see me as the shy person I am ever again and may think I am a weird social worker.
Sorry, Darlene, I couldn't resist. I think that is a GOOD reminder, I forget to do that and I would rather decide how much too put on my salad!
Thanks,
Cheryl
