OT: Brody is my hero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brody saved michael's life and our house today-
long story very short there was a fire in our basement that brody alerted michael(by barking )  and michael got it put out--the fire dept and fire investigators AND the state fire marshall were here for hours and hours and michael ended up going to the new ER in an ambulance ($$$Damn) for smoke inhalation and chest pains (stress= tightness) --he is home ....they wanted to keep him overnite- we promised to go back if pains returned or continued.

when i got home from alexa's memorial, after sitting outside for a bit with the men, i came in--brody greeted me at the front door and almost knocked me down to get me in the chair - he kissed me all over my face-has NEVER done that before -and was so happy to see me--he doesn't know how grateful i am to him....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

He is definitely a hero. It's amazing what pets can do. I'm glad all is OK.

Thank God for our beloved pets.  I hope there wasn't too much smoke damage for you Margo.  At least everyone is safe.  I hope Michael settles down now that he is at home and will take things in stride.  Nothing you can do about it now, so don't stress.
Hope tomorrow is a better day.
Horay for Brody, extra treats for him....

Thank God for Brody.   We have two little poodles, but our Molly was fired as chief of security when she slept through a burglary several years ago.  Leo we got fairly recently, but doesn't look particularly ferocious.  Fortunately, we have not had to find out if they could alert us to smoke.

jeane- both of our dogs have a special bark when they see the jerk neighbor outside- this was the kindof barking that was going on--
then roxie(**** a poo)  escaped out the garage door while all this was going on and a neighbor two blocks down called my cell-i'm in Big Lots walking around trying to debrief from the memorial--i called home to ask hubby to go get her and that's how i found out about the fire....

i guess the smoke was horrid when it was happening but the damage doesn't really seem to be much...and seems to be contained to the basement- a huge hole in the carpet tho where we had to cut away the burned area-and some tools and a plastic tote and a ladder were ruined but pretty much that seems to be all- some fabric things that need to be washed-and of course airing out! the stairwell will need to be scrubbed -soap and water should do it tho!

our basement is wood-not block-so that is scary!!!!

i just thank God that everyone is alright here...michael is in an uproar cuz he thought the neighbor jerk started it- fire marshall doesn't think so....he wants to call the fm tonite and i am having trouble keeping him settled down--soon it will be bed time i hope!

I can imagine it will take some time for you both to settle down - that is traumatic!

Thank God you caught it.   I remember many years ago my aunt and uncle lost their home to fire.  Only there it was arson, and my aunt was home with her children alone.  The arsonist knew my uncle was out of town.   Anyway, they got out with their lives but lost everything they owned.  Some things were irreplacable, like pictures.   Now, so many years later, my cousins still regret losing the old photos of their parents - their parents, as mine, have passed.

Brody deserves a medal and a very large, chewable bone that will last for days!
Glad that no one was hurt and that the house didn't suffer from much damage.

WOW.......... so glad that everyone is ok.  Brody is a superhero!!
Hope there isn't any damage to the house.
Did you figure out what caused it?  Sure hope it has nothing to do with that kooky neighbor of yours.

Good luck with the clean up....
