Margo,
Very frightening for all. I'm glad you are safe.

Call your insurance company. They may provide cleaners for the mess.

A couple of years ago our furnace had a "puff back" which covered the entire house with black soot. Our insurance paid to have a cleaning crew come in.  It was several thousand dollars worth of cleaning. Big mess.

actually- i don't think i am going to call them--it doesn't appear to be that bad...and i really don't want a claim if i can help it....

we'll see when we go down today to clean...

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Guess you're going to have to call him Brody the WonderDog!  What a guy.....yes, a great big chewie bone is in order.
So glad Michael and your house are all okay. So sorry you have to have this added stress right now, but gee, it could have been so much worse. Any idea at all what could have caused it??

Hope you were able to get some rest last night from what was a very stressful day. Hugs to all of you.

Susan

I am so glad that they got everything out before any really bad damage could happen. Thanks be to God for Brody...he is a good little guy! Your homeowners should pay for the medical bills too and the damages done....if you should reconsider calling them.

I am so glad that it wasn't as bad as it could have been...it could have been disastrous.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

hadn't thought about the homeowners covering medical bills- good thought!

it could have been fatal to michael, both dogs, the cat and all of the birds-chico, ruby, 4 ****atiels and 8 parakeets....

not my idea of family planning!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Yeah For Brody!!Very Glad that Michael is O.K. After what you have been through of late with him & trying to sell your house. WOW, you sure did not need this,
but, at least everything turned out with good results.
Rest & enjoy life today!!

Aloha Margo....I am so glad that you are OK!! That fire was very scary and your hero dog deserves a BIG treat!!

I had sometime similar happen to my condo in Santa Cruz. I had already found a buyer and was just waiting for closing when a fire started in my bedroom (computer desk area). I luckily was at home and saw smoke billowing out of my bedroom and called 911 AND my neighbor who came over with fire extinquisher and got the flames out and the fire department finished up making a huge mess with foam, etc. Well, what looked like disaster ended up being a blessing for the new owner. My insurance painted the whole condo, put in new carpeting and even replaced my computer that had fried in the fire.

Be sure and call your insurance...you may get a beautiful new basement, plus painting, etc.

Hugs to you!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Thank God, you all got out, aren't dogs wonderful.  You should name Brody, the wonder dog.
I'm sure it was terrifying, but  at least you don't have to stay in a motel for weeks. Glad the Michael is better. but still this is serious and distessing to have to go through it. thinking of you and Michael and of course Brody.

Thank God for Brody!  I'm so glad y'all are safe.  Several years ago, our daughter and SIL's cat alerted them  to sparks coming from an electrical outlet.  Cleo was acting stranger than usual.  Had they ignored her, they would not be here today.
