Calcium Crystals: verdict is in!

I recently decided to give Bariatric Advantage's Calcium Crystals a try. Sampled them first at Vitalady's in a protein drink. Those of you who have been with me the past 4 years know how much money I have wasted on "calcium" in many forms. Big, chalky tasting pills, liquid that tasted like ground chalk even in a shake, bites (expensive!), Viactiv (wrong kind of calcium) so. . . . here I am. I think I've found a winner and no I don't sell them. Mixed in my morning shake and afternoon Crystal light they are fine. No after taste, no chalkiness and it really cuts down on the amount of pills per day. It seems a bit pricey but just uses two TINY scoops per shake or drink so it will last a long time. Saved some of my last Citracal to take with me to Italy so I don't have to explain the "white powder" in my luggage!

I guess I need to experiment lots more.....the crystals in water, as advertised, is just plain nasty! I've been mixing a dose of it and chasing it with a shot of milk. I didn't want to ruin my cottage cheese cheesecake and cherries last night but maybe that's what it needs to cover that bitter taste.

Try just ONE scoop in just 2-3 oz of something citrusy.

even the unflavored is a bit tart. 2 scoops ruins my protein, but 1 doesn't

Karen,

Thanks for starting this thread.  I ordered the individual packets of BA crystals from Michelle.  So far, so good.  I have just put the crystals in water, mixed, added ice and Crystal Light and I'm a happy camper.  I'm not finding any bitter aftertaste.  It does require two packets a day.  I'm probably going to order it in the bins next time. Won't be as pricey.  My question is if it can added to hot coffee??  Michelle??

Also, I got the 50,000 iu D3 from her so that's my new regimen.

The sample I tried at Michelle's was hot. . . not sure how hot. I think there is a "hot" brink not to pass but not sure what it is.  I've mixed it in my protein shake and Crystal Light and like both. Not quite brave enough to try it "straight."

appx 160 deg,or about Mr Coffee hot

Um, you guys are doing around 2400mg a day, right?

The jug is way way cheaper to use. I put mine in smaller jars so I can fit it into my cabinet

I tried the raspberry flavored crystals in a bottle of water.  Not enough flavor alone, and they don't dissolve very well, no matter how much I shake.  I put them in a bottle with an "On the Go" tube of flavoring (Crystal Light, I think), and there's no problem with flavor.   Still hard to dissolve.

Next experiment will be to try to disslove them in a teeny bit of warm water, then add my cold stuff.  I'll let you know.

I hate the pills too, and end up not using them, and my bones will get weak, and break, and I'll fall apart and won't be able to take trips, and, and....

I WILL make the crystals work!

And you can't get:
life insurance
long term health care
disability insurance

even tho crispy bones aren't "real" to you, not having insurance is a lil more tangible, huh?

You could fall the night before a major trip, be misdiagnosed and have your life changed forever by a fracture.

OR, you could roll over in bed and fracture your ribs...?

Any of those seem real?

One of my peers (1994) wouldn't take calcium because it's for "old people". Riiiiight. Well, we GOT older. Sadly, our bones beat us to age 90 or so.
