What's New- Sunday!
It's 7;20 a.m. here and a warm, sunny morning. I'm hearing the mynas sqwauk (sp?), and the whisper of the palms as they sway gently in the trade winds. Our "hurricane" turned out to be a fizzle with just some much needed rain, but no damage or panic. A lot of people stocked up on a lot of supplies for nothing. But, I guess it's good they are ready if another big storm threatens. The thing about Hawaii is that a hurricane can be coming dead on directly at us as a Cat. 4 and then fall apart just before getting here because of the strange wind patterns we have. It's like our protection from disaster.
Well, I finally bit the bullet and went to see my PCP about how I've been feeling the past few weeks. She and I talked a long time, and she put me on antidepressants which I've known I needed for quite awhile now, but was in deep denial. Being a psychologist I knew the signs long ago, but continued to pretend everything was OK. She said it will take about 3 weeks for these to kick in, but I'm feeling hopeful just knowing that I'm now on a treatment plan.
My current stressful situation is worrying about getting me and my kitties out of here during the tenting in the middle of Sept. I have a condo next door that a dear friend has offered to let me use, and I gratefully accepted. Now, getting my two kitties over there is my next challenge. Yesterday I stopped at the animal shelter and bought two of the cardboard carriers which I will use, but can just hear them howling their displeasure when I take them next door. It will be a week I dread. Hopefully all my worrying is nothing but that.....worrying for nothing!
So many of you are facing physical and mental hurdles right now, and I do so hope that you find answers and healing in your lives. Thank you for letting me dump mine on you this morning. This is a LOVING little family.
Aloha nui loa,
