New Member in need of help

Hi! My name is Molly and I had weight loss surgery RNY on July 28th. I desperately need to air a concern of mine. I lost 25 lbs, pretty good since July 28th, but then I just stopped. losing. I am eating small portions and I feel well. My post surgery vitimanines haven't come in yet and that is also a concern. So, is the suddenly stopped losing to be expected (I have stayed the same weight for about 2 weeks maybe less now) even when I haven't eaten other than whats on my diet, and how long should I wait while waiting for my after surgery supplements before getting concerned?
Thank you SO much for your help!

hi molly!!! congrats on you getting a new life!!! well for starters you lost 25 pounds fast and you also had MAJOR surgery so your body is wondering what the heck is happening!!! the weight will start falling off again soon i promise!!! take your measurements and stay OFF THE SCALE EVERY DAY!!!! you are losing inches if you aren't losing weight....:-) as for your vitamins i am not sure what to tell you on that...just keep getting in as much water and protein as you can and hopefully they will be to you soon!!!
welcome a-board
i love the name molly! i had a very very special friend name dmolly- -oh -she was 4 legged -borde collie- but very special!!!!!!!
as judy pointed out you just had major surgery- your body is going thru many changes and it IS wondering what is going on--plateaus--while no fun--are a normal part of this losing thing...spme of u**** them sooner than others- some hit more of them--no rhyme or reason! .maybe add in a new exercise or walk a little farther or something-change out something about your rmeals--add one more glass of water ...your body is going to go into starvation mode to protect itself and it is confused--and it gets "used" to what you are doing if it's routine! and do stay away from the scale!!!!!!!!!!!
did you take before measurements? take em again! and new pictures....
each of our doctors tell us diff things about vits and supplements and protein amounts etc--what were you told? what to take and how soon etc all depend son teh doc and nutritionist...did you get a notebook or something ? go back and re-read it! i would worry most about protein intake and water ...and if you are waiting for a specif vit-maybe do flintstones sf chewables until your arrive....a B12 sublingual never hurts....walmart has them rite aid - GNC - vitalady probly does- so many places but sublingual is what you need... are you eating sf pudding or cottage cheese or cheese sticks...calcium citrate is important ---and you can add protein powder to your pudding...
you are doing well-
stick around - post -tell us more about you- we have a what's new thread daily-jump in--it's a good way to get to know us and us you...

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Thank you Margo! I appreciate so much hearing from you and Judy! This must be a special group. I like the name Margo, by the way! I feel much better today, just being able to write about my "what in the heck is going on moment?" and I can tell that the more information the better.I also need to go back and re-read! I can't tell you how much I appreciate hearing from you! I am off from school (teacher of Middle School****il the end of Aug. I wanted to have time to go through this and adjust somewhat before jumping into the new hectic school year so close to my surgery date. I know once I go back to school things will be easier for me in a way. I am not one to set around and haven't recovered enough physically yet to do much! I did dishes last night though! I'm getting there!
Thanks again Margo!

Thank you so much Judy! I already know one thing I'm doing that I probably shouldn't and that's weighing EVERY day. As I think of it you are right, I bet my body is confused! I teach school and have taken a medical leave until July 31st just so that I can get in a routine with myself before attempting to hit the front of the classroom in Middle School! I so appreciate your time and energy. I think this is a journey that is going to be much easier walking with others than alone! You are appreciated!

You're doing really well with the weight loss. I had my surgery on July 16th and have lost 33.5#. You seem to be right on track. I did hit a three day stall, but this morning when I weighed it was down 1#. I'm bad, I weigh almost every day because I can't believe the pounds are melting off like they are. Just keep following the diet and exercise regime and things will pick back up again.
I would at least be taking the flintstones sf vitamins and the sublingual b12. Right now the most important things are protein and fluids.
How long have you been waiting for your supplements? I would probably make a call to see where they are. My doc wanted me to begin them pre-op.
Welcome aboard and hang on.....

Welcome! Everything I've read from everyone says we all go through a stall 2-3 weeks out so you're right on time! This, too, shall pass.
As for your vitamins, I'm sure you have called and have an idea when they'll arrive? Until then you can take Centrum chewables for your multi, I'm taking B-12 sublingual liquid, and Calcium Citrate. I've been taking various vitamins for the last 6 mon. but my Dr. asked that I start the bariatric vitamins last week.

hi molly
congrats on your surgery. i think you are doing just fine. stalls are part
of the whole weight loss process but if you are following the instructions
that the surgeon gave you, the weight loss will pick up again soon.
as to the vitamins, i was sketchy with them myself in the first few weeks
so i would not stress unduly. when they arrive you can get in the habit
of taking them on a regular basis.
its nice meeting you, hope to see you posting soon again
be safe and well, jacki
