paper work

As last week, I was patiently waiting for the stress test paperwork to go to the Drs. Today, being me, I stopped at the Drs. to see if it got there. Of course not. what was I thinking. Then they told me I needed a thyroid blood work, then told me I needed to write out why I needed the surgery and what I expected from it. Also that a member in my family( hubby) to write a letter and let them know that he understood the risk and that he supports me  in this decision.
Today I got the blood work done, went to find out why the results had not been sent, the lady gave me a copy.
She stated, are you sure you had it done here.  After 10min. she discovered, yes I had it there, and no they hadn't sent to paperwork. I was good, I was sweet,  I was frustrated, but still nice.  Oh, well tomorrow it another day.She gave me a copy, so now I'll take them tomorrow with all the other letters to the Drs. office then they will schedule for surgery.
This certainly has been a long journey, from here on in it will be a journey of joy.
Sorry so long, good night ladies and gents, It's 3a.m. I'm going back to bed.

It is sooooo frustrating to have to rely on others to do their job when the only one who cares at all is you!

People seldom post about their successes with paperwork on the road to surgery, but there sure are lots of lots of posts from folks who tell similar stories such as  yours.... so you have lots of company.

Be a bulldog... a polite bulldog, but tenacious... and good luck to ya

I feel your pain.  I had to have my lungs scoped and scanned and my blood had to have some kind of radioactive thing done to it because of my lung disease and my chronic anemia.  I would get up to the day of my surgery and someone would call and say, your lab work is wrong, you need to be on antibiotics, you need iron pills and iron shots and an infusion IV of iron.  I got so tired of all that, but it finally came and I had the surgery and you will too.  Just jump through their hoops and keep your eye on the prize.

I understand just how you feel...
The people in the doctors' offices just don't calm how nervous and anxious you are waiting to hear important news.  Try to stay calm.  It is going to happen for you and very soon.  Good luck!

they wanted a member in your family to write a letter?

I don't understand the letters....

It sounds like you are getting it all wrapped up, though.   That will be a good feeling!

Carol....oh the hoops we must jump through. Pretty frustrating now but it will be so worth it in the end!

I have never heard of a family member writing a letter before...that is different.

Good luck....hugs...connie d

I also had to write a letter of intent, but no one in my family had to write one.  I probably would have had to write it and hubby would have signed it!  We all get really good at jumping through hoops by our surgery date.  You will too.  It's probably the most painful part of the process.

I just don't like the idea of any doctor or insurance saying they needed my husband's signature for MY medical procedure.

Don't get me wrong - I love my DH - but this just rankles me...

Does the doctor not think we are "grown up" enough to take care of our own medical needs?

Apparently not, they wanted a letter stating that he knew what the risk  is and that I had a support system in place.
Gee, i feel like I'm a baby again. I know sometimes I'm in my second childhood, but I guess we have to  put up with the nonsense. I 'm finally learning to laugh about the the things that I need to do,just to improve my health.

I hear you - it's jumping through the hoops.  But that one really would tick me off.  You're right of course...better to laugh and move forward.
