Good Morning all.
Boy am I tired and sore..........for the first time in my life I had the "shop till you drop" experience.  When I was obese I never enjoyed shopping....for the last 10 years I probably bought everything on-line from JC Penney and Willow Ridge.  I gotta tell ya I was exhausted!  Everything hurt.! ANYHOW......... NOW I like shopping, I can honestly say I actually enjoy it.      What we enjoy most is shopping the clearence racks..........almost every item we bought at Marshall's was marked down to $5.00 (I got one shirt for $3.00!).  But then of course there were the few items that were only 1/2 off or $15.00 each but all in all we did great!

Matthew and I went out for lunch (I think he's still trying to make peace) after my follow up appointment at the cardiologist (which went fantastic!) and then we went shopping.  We went to Ross (similar to Marshalls) and then to Marshalls. SEVEN hours later we ran into Walmart for milk, eggs, bread and a couple other things and got home at 10pm!!!!!!!!  We both did really really well finding bargains galore.  I got a couple of cute outfits and a few new nightgowns.  The most amazing thing about it to me is that for the most part everything I put on was either a size small, a 6 or an 8.  When I started out on this journey I never imagined I'd be a small.  But I'm loving it!  It's a weird feeling to be moaning because they don't have the top or dress in a size SMALL ENOUGH.......I spent 25+ years moaning they don't come big enough.  What a difference.

Today I have 2 goals.........one is to get all the clothing that is too big out of the closet and packed for donation or selling.  I have so many BEAUTIFUL dresses that I can't use.....some I wore only once, a couple I never even wore and they still have tags on them!  The other goal is to get Matthew to finish putting up the new patio furniture.

Hope you all have a great day!
Ruth

Good Morning Margo and Friends,

We're in Chehalis at daughter's house. Mike went with Erin to pick up the twins. I was in  the kitchen working on dinner when they came in. I waited a few seconds then peaked around the corner and said "hi." Hannah literally RAN to me, held up her arms and I scooped her up! What a rush for this "mimi! Clara was right behind her wanting to be held too!

We had a great 3 hours before bed time. They have changed so much in just the 4 weeks since I last saw them.

I think Erin will take a long lunch today and we'll sneak off to see "Time Traveler's Wife." By the time the girls go to bed we're both too tired to do a movie and I'd really like to take her out for a bit. Josh has two a day football practices so she's got a lot of time in the evenings with just her and the babes. She loves them to death, but wow are they exhausting! Running everywhere!

Tomorrow we head to Ocean Shores and the beach for 3 days. Nate and Kristin will be over tomorrow and Josh and Erin and the babies on Saturday. We have a 2 bedroom condo rented; it will be cozy but should be fun. We'll look at a house I wanted but couldn't get. If we like it I'll rent it much earlier for next summer.

My exercise program is slowly working. In the past 5 weeks I have not gained. Slowly losing. I'm working out at the gym at least 4 days a week about 5 miles each day. This week I lost .8 of one pound. Slow but sure like the tortoise. Hey at 4 years post WLS I'll take any I can get. I know I could cut calories and still am working on those nasty carbs: crackers mainly.

Went and had the D and B12 bloodwork done yesterday befoe we left town. PCP's office forgot to include that on my bloodwork, but doctor agreed that we need to keep track of those as well.

You all have a good day.

Morning all:
Just had a thunderstorm roll thru with really heavy rain....now the sun is out and the humidity is 100% -- I'm not opening the house up!

Had a good day pain-wise yesterday, then I went to bed at 10:30 and the foot pain started in.....finally got to sleep around 1 a.m. even with taking "simply sleep".   It's the sleep product in Tylenol PM.

Watched a good movie from Netflix last evening -- Defiance -- it was about the Jews during WWII.

Today is my day off and I'm taking it easy.  Have one small load of dark clothes to wash, otherwise I'll probably read.  Just finished "The Good Earth" by Pearl S. Buck - I had never read it before and it was a page turner....it's our book club selection for this month.  Don't know why we don't read more classics like that.

Picked ten tomatoes and a zucchini yesterday out of my tiny garden.
Have a red pepper almost ready.   My zucchini plants have some kind of blight -- my neighbor sprayed them, but the one is looking pretty sad.

Have a g00d day all,
Pat R.

I don't feel well.  It's not a cold like thing or sinuses, it's just feeling unmotivated.  I never feel like this but today, I don't want to get going.  But, I am going to get around.  I have meetings starting soon, so I better put on the face of a person who gives a flying fig.

I am quite upset at having gone for my weighin and for the second week runing, no gain.  I am really beginning to think that I am suppose to be this size and not smaller and not larger.  Hubby and I talked about me getting surgery somewhere else and without the consent of my pcp and my wls surgeon. If I am not cleared soon, I will.  As it stands now, I will be waiting until December or spring break for the time off to actually have surgery.  When, I could go to a clinic in Mexico on fall break and maybe...well, there's staples that would have to come out and follow up visits.  That would be too many days.  Damnit.  I cannot believe my entire summer has been wasted.

Jeannie, we were talking on the other thread about avocados. Do you like them? The reason I ask, is that when my weight got too low last year, my nut suggested that if I liked avocados to eat all of them I wanted.
Here's the breakdown for one whole;

322 cals, 26 grams fat (17 of them monounsaturated fat, which is the good one), 17 carbs, 13.5 fiber and 4 pro.

I put them on sandwiches or wraps, made guacamole and at it with baked pita chips, and then just slices with some salad dressing or mayo.

Just a thought.  Oh, she also told me to bag the LF dressings and milk. Whole milk if you can tolerate it.

The name of the drug is effexor and if you go to the link above, you can see the discussion about its effects.

"PAGE NOT FOUND" came up when I used the link you provided.  I tried it twice just to make sure.
I have been on effexor and have gained an enormous amount of weight.  It did nothing to decrease my appetite.  There may be some who lose weight, but I couldn't attest to it.
There is another antidepressant that helps with weight loss that was suggested to me, but I am going off antidepressants and turned it down.
I can't remember the name, but my doctor recommended it because it was newer and helped with weight loss.

There was a discussion about effexor on the rants and rave and some said it worked.  That is where the link went.  I cannot tell you if it works or not since I am not on it, but that is what they were saying.  It's about nine pages back on the rant and rave board.

The link is good except a space got between Effe and xor.  Use the fixed link below.
