OT---shoudda saw this coming
Do any of you remember me telling you about this crazy client who came to me saying I was the "83rd hairdresser she'd been to in 4 years"? Well, she had an appointment today at 9:00 and didn't show. Guess she went looking for number 84. No call, no nothing, no $130 either 
POOOP Now I'm stuck here with no one until 12:00, have to stay until 4;30 because my late one can't come earlier. POOP squared.
Oh well, I suppoose I could clean.............wait. Let me just sit here until THAT feeling passes.

What an inconsiderate person.
I had a hairdresser that would charge her labor cost for regulars who were no shows. So, you either came at the appt time or found another stylist. Also, if you came late she would not take you because it would put her late for the next appt. Then, if you were late or cancelled more than twice she would refuse to book you again.
Needless to say she was very good with hair and she was a good business woman. It was always hard to get a last minute appt. with her too. And I rarely had to wait for her to finish someone before me.
So sorry you had to go through this. Did you get some cleaning done anyway?

Boy, I got major cleaning done! My station sparkles now. It's been needing to be done for a while now, so it's just as well.
I pride myself on not making clients wait for me. If one is more than about 20 minutes late, I make them reschedule, or I'll cut and not blow dry their hair. I work with a stylist who double books herself and won't rescedule people who are late and she's constantly making people wait. AGHHHHH makes me a nervous wreck thinking about it...LOL
The client that didn't show today is not a big deal, and considering her track record, it seems to me it's more her expectations than the stylists that she is going to. I'm sorry to have lost the $$ more than I'm sorry she didn't come back. Most of the time, it's the other way around!

As for me charging I only do haircuts at home now....But I am going back to work after we get back from Dallas. I only charge what people can pay me!!!!! and thatis not much!!!!!!
I am going to great Clips to work cause I am guarenteed a person in my chair all the time. But 12.00 for a haircut is cheap in my opinion but I do the best I can do......

Wait a mnute, I'm trying to imagine 83 trips to a salon in 4 years! Susan, you're probably blessed that she didn't show up. This nut case sounds like trouble. Hee hee, Big Bird yellow! I work with a lady who has her hair dyed clown orange -- on purpose!
When we bought this house, I didn't realize my hair dresser lived next door. She had been doing my hair for about 4 years. I continued to go to her place for several more years until she moved to a shop across the river. I let a guy she worked with do my hair and fell in love with him. I followed him to three shops and miss him dearly. Sorry to say he retired after being my hair person for over 15 years. One of his coworkers now does my hair. She's good, but no Donny! I don't know, maybe I'm not picky enough. I'd sit in Donny's chair and tell him to fix me (not that anybody had messed up my hair, I just never knew exactly what I wanted). I trusted 's expertise (and suggestions) to make me look and feel better. The only thing we ever really disagreed on was his use of way too much hairspray!

I quizzed her on her figures, and she backed up and thought a minute, finally saying it was probably at LEAST 40 different stylists. Now I can see how she does it. She only came to me 3 times. 5 wks apart. Some didn't even get appt #2 out of her.
You know a hairdresser that RETIRED???? Just last week I heard of a client's aunt, a hairdresser, who was still doing 4-5 clients a day at the age of 93. Please, don't let Gary know that someone could actually do hair at 93!
I'm assuming I'll die standing behind that chair. It's okay, though, I love what I do.
