OT--Anyone have an idea why this is happening?

I'm shooting out this question for my dear Tess. She's having some trouble and I thought if anyone I could ask it would be all the smart, experienced folks here. Yes, I am capable of sucking up...LOL

Okay, here's the deal. Last Saturday she started with a sore throat and swollen glands in her neck. Went to the dr on Monday thinking it was strep or tonsillitis. Neither. He said it was a virus, use sal****er, etc. So on Tuesday, she started not being able to eat hardly anything because everything tasted HORRIBLE. She's lost 8 lbs in the week, can't eat anything that has any natural sugar, artificial sweeteners, carbs, even her toothpaste tastes so bag brushing her teeth makes her gag.

I thought it was Thrush because her tounge is coated,  but when she went back to the dr, he said no to that too. But he did put her on antibiotics since her throat was still sore. This poor thing, losing 8 lbs in a week is one thing for us, but not someone who hasn't had surgery!  She can eat most veggies, made some soup last night and actually got full. They're vegetarians, so she tried tofu and that was ok.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?  I made her promise to make another appt with the dr for Monday.

Have her drink protein shakes, my daughter does and she is vegan. Not sure of the causes for her illness or how to treat, but I do know she needs her nutirition.

Hope she feels better soon.

Thanks, but she tried mine and they're too sweet. Made her gag. I am worried about her nutrition. Made sure she has vitamins and told her to double up on them until this either passes or they find out what it causing it.

Oh, and probiotics too

There are tasteless ones that she can add to foods or make her own drinks.

Sorry I can't help with Tess' diagnosis.  I'm not a nurse, but I do wear scrubs to work every day!  Sending lots of get well/feel better vibes for Tess.
