What's new Sunday?
I, too, appreciated your reply. I had a conversation at the grocery store Thursday while I was in line with a woman about the health care debate. I told her so many of the things out there were false ... like the end of life e-mail going around. I said it was going around because certain lobbies don't want change because it will hurt them. I told her I'd seen and read stuff that refuted these e-mails and ads, and you really had to look into it deeper than these falsehoods to know what was true. I had watched World News Tonight on ABC and saw their Fact Check, and told her to go to the Web site to look at that.
We really need change here ... there are so many people without health insurance, and when they need care, they have to go to the ER to get it, which is not a good system (somebody pays!). There are people with jobs who don't have insurance (Margo knows this) and if you get seriously ill, you're bound to have to file bankruptcy.
The elderly and the poor and children are covered, but the working poor ... those not full-time and not covered by their employed ...are screwed. That's not equitable.
Something needs to be done.

Hi Margaret and my OFF family:
It's gloomy and chilly here today. I had to haul out the long robe and slippers ... my feet were cold! Man, it's August, not October.
I got up at nearly 11 ... I was tired. I have some stuff I want to get done today ... I plan to make Waikiki meatballs (yeah, I was going to make them a couple weeks ago when I had the power outage ... bought some new meat, but I still have the green peppers in the fridge and I don't want them to go bad). Stripped the bed today and washed sheets and comforter, so even though I slept late, I have been ambitious. Now I'm off to have my first cup of coffee.
Margaret, I waited more than a year to have my surgery, and it wasn't socialized medicine, Janet ... just a bad office staff that lost my insurance info. I couldn't have stood and taught, either ... not then or now, with my bad knees and back. So hang in there, it will happen ... I know, I'm impatient, too. And I was at 350 pounds. I took three weeks off from work, and really, it was tough that first week back (I was so tired, plus my tummy was hurting from the antibiotic I was on from the incisional infection).
Not much else planned for today. More laundry, baseball, litter box patrol (they need to be dumped, they're so stinky!), maybe some baking ... we'll see what I feel like doing. I have these two big zucchinis I have to shred and do something with.
Well, coffee's done ... have a good day.

Someone will have to be hired to replace me when I'm off work for the 3 or 4 weeks, and I am concerned that my boss won't have much time to arrange for my replacement. I don't want my students to suffer as a result of this. Also, I must admit, I'd like to have this before I am too old to appreciate it! Just kidding, but I will be 59 in December and time is a-wasting!
my babies just left--the daddy is my baby and he didn't want to let go when we hugged- i know he is going to have a very difficult time with us going to hawaii....the kids were wonderful-they really don't know us and we had fun!!!!! son took some great pics and we just played and swung and stuff...
it's tiring tho when the kids don't know us...
well-maybe i need a nap!!!!! yea--i think that's it!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

It is hot and muggy on Long Island, NY. I did my grocery shopping this morning. The stores were jammed because everyone else had the same idea to go out early. Tomorrow is my hubby's birthday and I am making him a special dinner and baking him a cake.
Tonight my support group is going to play mini golf & I am hoping for a great time!
