Monday Monday Monday! What's NEW?
Hey Debbie,
I bet you are eligilble for both loans and grants. The thing about the nursing programs, at least at most universities, is there are extra compensations because of the nursing shortage. So, while you may not be eligible for scholarships for a humanities degree, you would qualify for nursing. The first place is to visit FASA on the web. Thats the financial aide place or contact your nearest university. I'd wait, though, about two weeks because this time of the year is their busiest time with new students coming in wanting last minute aide. When I first came back to school to get my BA in English, I didn't have the money for tuition or books and I just marched in to the financial aide office and left with my books paid. I eventually was able to get a scholaship for my tuition and when I went for my MA and my PhD, I had fellowships because of my high standardized test scores and good grades from undergrad. I hope you are successful.
Today is my first day of fall semester. I have a really good teaching schedule. None of my classes begin before nine. Yeah! And my MWF class doesn't begin until eleven. So, I can actually get some things done here before I leave.
We still haven't found us a car but are still looking. I want a van but hubby thinks a smaller car is better. I just like having a big behind and a van gives me the big behind. LOL.
I'm also getting me a new bike. It's one of those bikes that has the peddles more like a recumberant bike. I cannot wait. While I love my little beach cruiser bike, I ride it enough to need more gears and more comfort.
Okay, that's it with me.
You guys have a great day.

Debbie, it is sooo good to hear from you again. Don't be a stranger Sweety.
Nancy - you lead the most interesting life. Where do you get so much energy?
I cooked spare ribs and had a yucky reaction. They were nice and lean but oh my goodness ... I got all sweaty and began to feel drooly. That never happens. Goes to show me not to take anything for granted. The pouch RULES!!!
Look at the time, I need to get in the shower and shovel on the make-up.
Kisses
Annette
Nice to have your parents close as they age too. I can't wait to get to a size 14.
Today my niece from Tennessee is going to stop by before heading back home. I miss her so much since she's moved down there. Her mother, my sister, passed away in October 2006 and I really feel like I should step in as the kids confidant, mentor, pseudo parent, whatever you want to call me. They're all adults now, but you always need/want your Mom. I promised them when Sue died that I would always be here for them. It'll be so nice to see her. I don't know when I'll get back down to TN to visit them.
Today is another sunny cool day here in Michigan. I'm sitting on the loveseat, laptop on my afghan covered lap with the doorwall partially open and the cool breeze blowing in. Poker this afternoon with my card club. Will be a struggle with food, because we always go all out on poker night. I will make good choices tho, no problem with that yet.
See ya.

Nothing much going on here today. Kayden should be here any time now since Shawn starts work at 8:00. He drops Carol's nephew off at school too and since the nephew is always running late so is DS. I would just flat out tell nephew to get it moving or he can get is own butt to school. But...what can I say?
The week end was nice. Saturday wasn't spent doing much other than having Kayden in the morning. Then Sunday we were going to go to church but didn't. It was raining and cold to me and I just couldn't get to going for some reason. I didn't feel up to going to the picnic either so we stayed home and vegged for a while. DS was kind of upset since Bill called him and told him we weren't taking Kayden for the day. Geez...we had him for 4 days give me a break. He had plans....well, too bad if you ask me! You were the one who had the baby not Dad and I.
Then in the afternoon we went to Wally World and got what we needed for the next month since we have no idea when the next money is going to be coming in. Now we are down to almost nothing since we have a couple of bills to pay too. Oh well...what is is and that is the way it is. At least the everyday stuff that we need is here. Now it just has to last....
Then we went to my cousins daughter's cook out for my cousin and his wife who is in from Kentucky. It was so nice to see everyone. It seems like forever since we saw Donny and Charlotte. They are the same and they love it down there so that is the important thing. They are happy which is the main thing. I wasn't sure how he would take to the move since he left all his family and where he has lived his whole life and I guess that was for naught since he has done so well. I got to see my aunt and uncle and that was a treat. They are both in the nursing home now and in the same room so that is good. They seem to be doing well. Uncle Bob is 91 and has some major health problems....there is nothing more they can do for him so they are just waiting for the inevitable. Aunt Virginia has Alzheimer's just like mom did and forgets a lot of things. I am use to it but it still isn't right in my mind.
Today is going to be spent just doing things around here and working on breaking Kayden from needing to be held all the time...in fact every minute of the day. It seems to be going well but then there are other times that it seems like it is going no where. I guess you will have that. The main thing is to just keep going on and it will work after time.
Have a great day and know that I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers are being said for everyone. Don't forget to smile and spread some joy and happiness to others.
Nancy, good to see you too. Dang perverted mosquitoes! And as always, you're busy doing so many interesting things.
The weather here has been so wonderful. Abnormally low temps and humidity lends itself to open windows and fresh air. The house smells so good, and the breeze coming in my office window while I visit with my OFF friends and sip my latte make me happy to be alive. It's the little things in life, huh?
Yesterday Gary and I went to the storage shed and cleaned out a bit, rearranged a lot and brought two totes of old photos home to go through. I found some real treasures, my dad's wallet (he died 30+ yrs ago) with a copy of his discharge from the army in 1946, and my grandfather's passport from 1918, and many, many memories of family times, all of those gone now with me being the only one left. Sigh.
During the afternoon I helped Tess set up her facial room. I'm so thankful that I have the experience to help her with this, getting the proper flow of the room and making her work environment the most efficient as possible. Lots of cleaning since the previous gal was not the most tidy. Icky! While we did that, Gary and Jeff went to see "Department 9". They loved it, said we would have hated it. Too much violence and such. But...they had a nice "guy" afternoon while we did girlie things.
Our new labels for our Holiday line of SaintBella will be done this week, so it will be full steam ahead with that. No slowing down for us! Okay, that's it. You're caught up. Hope you all have a wonderful, happy day!

I used to teach the bridging course for RN's returning for their BSN degrees. As an old diploma nurse myself, and the only one on the faculty who didn't begin as a BSN, I got that job every year for 9 years. It's work, but you can make it thru, Debbie. Keep the faith. Weight gain doesn't appear to be unusual for us 'oldies' who had surgery years before. Without the continued honeymoon period with our tiny tummies, many of us have to learn new eating habits< and no longer depend on our pouch, that help us cope with the stressors. 30 lbs is so uch less than before; don't beat yourself.
My plans for today? Sit around, knit baby things, cut out and and plan a baby quilt, and let my body revive. A bit of pain this morning but nothing, absolutely nothing, could compare to the pain I had before surgery. Take care and have a great Monday!!

today i work 5-9 and hate that shift!! its all cleaning up after two slobs....sighs....getting some laundry done seeing as the machines are not being used...lol i got to them first!!! yippeeeee!!!! omg me happy about doing laundry...lmao next i will be saying how happy i am doing dishes....roflmao!!!!
talked to my mom and she said my sister was moved to a nursing home because her stay at the hospital was all used up...not sure how long she will be there but so far looks like about 10 days??? with her having panic attacks i am thinking she will be in nursing home alot longer than 10 days....still not sure about my ex getting his eye taken out...i think if he has surgery it should be tomorrow if my sister told me right last week when i talked to her.
yesterday was ricks day to call unemployment again so hopefully he will get paid this week!!! i sure hope so because we are so broke and rent is coming up fast!!! so tired of being broke and worrying about getting bills paid on time!!! had a fight with his mom the other day about the cell phone bill again...seems they want $160.00 within 12 days or they will shut us off. how did we get to them needing $160.00??? because she isn't paying her portion thats why!!!! she wants US to come up with half...AGAIN!!! no way will that happen again!! we bailed her out couple months ago so its not gonna happen again!! i told her if they shut them off then so be it....i will get our own phones and she can just stuff it!!!! then she tells me that her sister (yeah the one that stayed with us before) will be needing a place to stay again....seems she was in a car accident and her husband kicked her out....i told her i was not running a half way house anymore!!! so then i said i had to go and hung up. i then called rick and told him what happened and he said if his aunt gave him $50.00 she could stay with us...lol so anyhow i went to work and expected to see her car in the parking lot when i got home that night...well she wasn't here when i got home...then it got to be after 10 pm and still she wasn't here or called to let rick know what was going on...he tried calling her but she wouldn't answer her phone and she never called back....he said if she called or came and rang the door to be let in he wasn't answering either one so she can go someplace else....LOL we never heard anything from her at all so guess she found another place to crash for a change!!! i like his aunt but damit this happens every few months that she is kicked out for one thing or another and i am sick of being taken advantage of!!! so is rick!!! ok off the soap box....said enough to bore you to death....
well best get the clothes folded and then get my face on and then off to get the check engine light checked to see what is wrong this time and if they will shut it off for me then get to the e check station and hope it stays off til i pass the test!!! hope you all have a glorious day today....;-)
