Having trouble keeping food down

For some reason, I am having trouble keeping any food down (anything solid).
I don't recall having this kind of problem a week or two ago.
Has anyone experienced this (I'm about a month 1/2 out)

I had chicken tonight - 1 thigh - and it did not stay down.

I'm starting to worry.

I would call your doc. if it continues. Drink some ho****er and see if there is anything that may be stuck. Carla

I can hold down a protein shake - but not meat.
I will call the doc if it doesn't get better.

This is very frustrating.

What comes up....food or salvia?

Many of us have trouble with protein.....you will probably need some medication for your stomach opening.....it can get irritated and cause you problems. I find that if there is enough sauce or dressing etc on my protein I can get it down, but it needs to be chewed a lot and cut small.

Good luck, Marti

Food comes up..
I will give it a day or two and try what you suggest...
The chicken tonight was dark meat, and moist but not in a sauce.
If this does not change, I will call the doc.

Thank you..

if you are throwing up the food...you may need your opening stretched, because it does not sound like the food is even getting into the stomach. Just call your doc and tell them.

It seems odd though - I just had a small piece of an OHYeah protein bar and it was no problem.
But I can't get the meat down.

I will call the doc tomorrow.

you are right, but you know I can eat a big salad, but have trouble getting protein down. Ask your doc and then tell us why the protein sticks. but then also Darlene probably knows that already.

I think you're still so early out you shouldn't worry.  I have problems on occasion too, but I'm not worried.  We're only a month and a half out!  We shouldn't yet be able to eat too much.  I find that I have a hard time with certain foods too.  I just stay away from them and make another choice for now.  Try it again in a week or two.  I couldn't keep down the chicken thigh that I ate either, but I can keep down canned tuna (which I think is dryer).  I do use a bit of mayo with it.  I have no trouble getting in my protein with the protein shakes, cheese, cottage cheese etc.  Eat slowly and chew chew chew.  Last night for dinner I had a cup of egg drop soup and 1/3 of an egg foo yung patty.  It was yummy and between the two it was 10.2 gm of protein.  I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.

It may be that you are not chewing the chicken well enough & therefore it can not get
past the opening & you end up getting sick. Lots of us had problems with chicken in the beginning. How was it made? If fried it could be the fat content, If eating the skin
it is most likely the skin for sure. If you are eating just the meat part, then chew, chew
& chew some more before swallowing any of it. If this does not work, please call as you most like have something stuck. Try other protein like tuna & see what happens.
In this new world you are in, somethings will work in this early stage & some things
won't. We never no why, it is just like that. then the next time you eat it, it will work
with no problem. Some things you may never be able to tolerate. That is life after WLS.
Feel Better!! Call your Doc. It is only a stupid question if you don't ask.
