My Esophagogastroduodenoscopy [EGD] exam yesterday

....a very very long word to say [ an EGD]   he put me asleep [by IV] and put a camera down my throat to exam my pouch and my opening. He thought maybe I had an ulcer, but I did not, just reddened area."gastritis"....not much but he prescribed a medicine to take before all meals called Carafate....that was very expensive, my co-pay was $74.90. Yikes!

He also told me ....yeah yeah...no wine...I get it....and that I had to only have 800-1000 calories a day. and come back to see him in 6 weeks.

So you see why I am worried about Journaling...that is sure not very many calories. How many of you keep your calorie intake to 1000 or even 1200 calories a day.

I had a protein  shake this morning and worked out for an hour. I only have 563 calories left for the day.....Yikes again.... it is not even noon.

Well, I did it before so hopefully I can do it again.

Love, Marti

Aloha sweetness......Glad you had yourself checked out. The plan for you is quite strict.........not sure I could do 800 to 1000 calories a day anymore either. I guess if my health depended on it, I could, and would, but would NOT be fun. Remember how easy it was to eat just a little bit right after surgery? I had to actually force myself to eat because I had no appetite. Maybe you could hypnotize yourself and go back to that time and appetite would go away! Ha!

Glad you are taking care of yourself......and I'm hoping you come back with great news in six weeks.

You are loved.

Aloha nui loa,

Sweet sweet Karen.....I know I can do it if I stay here and put my mind and all your support to it.

I am hoping that the loss of appetite will happen again....and the weight will come off....I can only hope.

So THAT's what EGD stands for. No wonder no one says the whole word...

I eat between 1200-1400 cals a day, usually right in the middle. Most of those calories are from the milk in my lattes (ff, sf). So, if I subracted those out, I'd be actually eating around 1,000-1,100. If you concentrate on mostly protein, chicken or fish, and veggie, you could do it. Not saying that it's going to be easy, for sure. Measure everything, that should help. Keep it to 1/2 to no more than 1 cup total for a meal.

Glad it wasn't anything super serious, but I'm sure that co-pay was bad enough!

Thanks....I hope I can do it also....I know I will try....he said my wine is what made me gain all the weight......I was drinking up to 2 BOTTLES a day....now...nothing......I knew it was too much fun to last....I didn't eat verymuch,  but with at least 1500 calories a day in wine, no wonder I gained.

Those calories in everything are so easy to slip in....like I went to the store this morning to get fat free milk which has 90 calories in a cup, as opposed to reg milk has 150 calories a cup. It is bak to reading labels all the time again.....why did I stop??? ...I guess I thought I had it under control and didn't need to write it down.....I was deluding myself....

Do you get your lattes at Starbucks still?

We have an espresso machine here at home and I buy the sugar free syrup at the Bucks and the espresso pods as well. I stll get one almost every day anyway, I worry that they'll go under if I don't...LOl

Yep, I read every label that goes into my cart if it's not a "regular" there. All of these things add up.

Take care!

Mine were 2 before bed, 2 upon rising. So, both on empty, and the morning ones, give them an hour in the pouch before adding anything else.

That's fine with me, as I'm still trying to run on one eyeball and banging into walls for at least an hour in the mornings. It's a miracle I don't drown myself in the shower.

Ah yes, the EGD ... knew what it stood for, never seen it written out ... such a loooong word!

Don't know if I could eat that little again ... yikes! Two bottles of wine a day ... gee, I have one or two bottles of beer a week and I'm drunk on that. Not judging you, just know what makes me drunk.

I'm not much on journaling, but I know others find it really helps them keep track of what they eat and keep their diet in gear. In fact, studies have shown it works.

Marti, it's going to be hard, but hang in there. We're here for you. If you need to talk, I'm here all day.
