I, too, take the carafate but my wls doc said only the liquid.

I always read the labels.  After a while, you'll remember what is in what.

Yikes. My fingers would get tired typing that word.

I really don't know how many calories a day I eat. Should be Blushy ashamed of myself.

Marti, you used to add up grams of protein for me each day when we first had surgery. My math was and is bad but you helped me figure it all out. It feels overwhelming right now, but you have the good skills to make this work.

Give yourself some time to juggle things around again. Using 'no fat' products cuts down on calories so that's a good start. You CAN do this and we are all here to help. Heart Glasses

Hi Marti...

I am happy to hear you don't have an ulcer.

As for calories....I try to keep it right around 1200 a day. Some days I do better then others. All in  all it works out.I eat mostly protein with some veggies and fruit.

I wish you the best....this is no easy way out!!!

Love and hugs....connie d

love you--remember we are here-vent, cry, laugh, scream, sing! we listen!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Marti,

Have you tried the generic??  I get the generic and it's very affordable.  Good luck to you.  Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Marti

You sure are right--he is really being strict.

If I think back, that is probably where we were at about 8-9 months out or so.  The protein shakes are a good start.  Vitalady.com has samples at a reasonable price.  I haven't gotten any of them but they have the Oh Yeah shakes which are about 230 calories and 35 grams of protein and they are supposed to be really good.  That is the premade ones--my regret early out is that I wasn't very creative with them (just the stuff from EAS at Wal Mart) and Chike.com has samples (5 for $3 shipping).

You can do this--it reminds me of the preop diet that I had to go on for 3 weeks before my surgery.  3 shakes, 8 oz of orange juice (important not to forget that or things get plugged), and as much sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles and other water equivalents as I wanted.  The 2 days clear liquid was hard--apple juice and water.  It is hard but KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE.

Hang in there

Sylvia
