What's New Friday? TGIF!

Hi my OFF family:

I haven't start this for awhile. It's after 1 a.m. and I'm just about to head to bed. If I don't, I'm going to attack the snacks. I thought I had a snack bag of baked Cheetos in the house and boy, did I really want them. But nope, just pretzels, and I didn't want pretzels. I'm not really hungry, just bored and kinda tired. So I'll start the thread and go to bed instead ... hmmm, that rhymes.

Not much going on here. Got a call from Rent-a-Center with a special offer today ... they wanted to upgrade my 27-inch TV to a 40-inch TV (or something like that), for $29.99 a week (so $9.99 a week more than I'm paying now. Well, my entertainment center won't hold anything more than maybe a 32-incher, so I said no. I don't need anything that big ... maybe I might want it someday, but not now. I'm happy with what I have.

It was payday, and now it's mostly gone. Gas in the car, prescriptions, necessities, a few groceries (man, I made out like a bandit on the few groceries I did buy ... wound up paying $17.06 for $27.06 worth of groceries due to coupons and freebies ... such a deal!) Wish everything was that good.

White Sox finally won one ... 9-5 over the Red Sox. Watched part of the game that the White Sox scored in and then decided to go to bed ...that's when I was having the snack attack.

It's been cold and rainy all day. Today is the first day of high school football season, and I get to work sports desk ... not looking forward to it, except for the free pizza tonight, and the fact that I don't have to be in to wor****il 6 p.m. Just hope I'm not sitting there doing one page all night, as I expect might happen. (The sports editor will tell my boss they're going to be busy, they need help, and then I'll get one page ... that's their idea of busy ... not my idea of busy ... but this has happened before.) But ... then if there thunderstorms and lightning, there might not be any high school football (which has happened before). They'll play in the rain, but not if there's lightning.

Well, I've babbled on long enough. Babble on, the rest of you. What's going on for the weekend? I'm not moving out of the house at all, except to walk down to the mailbox (which isn't far).

Have a good day. I'll check in later.

Thank you White Sox.  The Rangers needed that.  And we took two out of three from the Yankees.  And the Angels lost tonight.  This has been a wonderful day.

Tomorrow morning will be a little sleep morning.  Mary has a doc appt and I am going with her.  So I will get maybe one hour of sleep.  When we get home, I will go to bed for another 3 hours or so.  That should be enough because I only work the one job tomorrow.

Later

Teaching, readying, writing, and studying.  But, tonight, I'm having a group of my colleagues over for dinner. At first, I was going to buy one of those precooked dinners from Sam.  But, then I decided to make quesadillas.  They're pretty easy to make and healthy too.  So, that's what I'll make.  I'll also make a little taco salad.

DH and I are still looking at cars.  We stopped at a dealership and they talked us into test driving a little yardis.  I'm sure I mispelled it.  Anyway, we did and then they said take it home for a day or two and if you decide you want it, we'll get the contract ready.  We'll I wanted to drive it home because it is so cute, but DH said, we'll think about it.  We still have some more comparison shopping to do.  And I could see it in his face: walk away from the car. LOL.  We don't want car payments so we are avoiding anything over 5000 bucks.  I wanted that car so badly.  But, we are getting a used car that we don't have car payments on.  Yes, that's best.

But, after that, I went shopping and found the cutest pair of army greenish pants and a beautiful shirt and a red sweater.  The shirt and sweater hang off my shoulder but I am plagued with very small and very short shoulders.  Even before wls, I had narrow fat shoulders.  So, I'll either get it altered or just wear it a little big.

That's it for me.

Hope you guys have a great day.

Jeane,
You might not want the Yaris....My sister and my neice have one and my neices has had 3 transmissions put in in less than a year. and the cluch 2 times. So she has a lemon and toyota wont let her get another one with the lemon law in Illinois.
They both love the car but not the repairs.

Well, I'm up early today too.  Couldn't sleep since 446 and that's not like me.  I love my sleep.  Hubby's not home, so I was hearing every little creek in the house, and outside.  With the window open I hear everything when I'm alone.  He's up north right now.  He called me last night and told me that he'd gotten all of his clothes and shoes organized in his closet and got most of his stuff put away.  He says I've got a big job ahead of ME, with putting everything else away, or getting it ready for the yard sale next spring.  I'm certainly not looking forward to that at all.
The dogs really wanted their breakfast this morning and then ran right outside to bark.  I don't know what they were barking at, but possibly an opossum.  They were frantic to get at whatever it was.  I had to go out in the rain to get them to come in.  Just what I wanted to do at 5:30 am in the rain!  And a damn mosquito got me when I was out there too.  Geez, what a way to begin the weekend!  it's ok tho, it'll be a crummy weekend anyway, cuz I've got all the little junk to pack  or toss.
Well, now that the dogs have eaten and pottied, they're trying to lay on me while I have the laptop on my lap,  The ol girl is laying on my right arm, but I can multi-task and type still. :)
Hope everyone has a great weekend.  It's supposed to rain all weekend here.

Good morning my wonderful OFF family,

First, I want to thank all of you for the amazing outpouring of love and support over the loss of our Sherlock. This is an incredible family we have here. I knew that you all would help me through a very rough time. All of your animal stories helped me remember the good times with Old Dog, and quite a few did bring a smile. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Eileen, those rent by the week places sure can rip you, can't they? Glad you stuck to your guns and kept the tv you have. Having a bit of extra $$ is much better than a bigger screen.

George, do you have some sort of perpetual battery system?  How do you keep going the way you do??? Man,you are something else!

Margo, this could be some very good news on the WC front, can't it? I've been through the process twice and it can sure drag on. Hopefully it will all work out for the best in the end.

Going to work today will be good for me, but I look like I've had a run in with a pro boxer. My face is swollen, my eyes are slits from crying, so I don't know if I'll bother with make up. I'd have to go see Tess for some theatrical type stuff to look normal today. It's okay, all my clients will understand.
We sure didn't expect the vet charges to be $165 yesterday. What are you going to do? We'll have to take it out of the money we've been stashing for our property taxes in October, but that too will work out.

Okay you wonderful people. Hope you all have a day as wonderful as you all are!  I love each and every one of you

Susan

Actually, I have slowed down.  When I was in the military I had 2 part time jobs.  I have slowed down and enjoy life.  I have 2 jobs and no stress at either.  The ability to surf the internet at both.  Watch TV at the first one.  Listen to the satelite radio.  Gee, I've got it good.  I think what makes a lot of us tired is stress.  And I have none.  I have bills that need to be paid, but if they don't get paid, I still will go on.  They will get their money eventually.  I am done fretting.

Susan,

First I want to say I am sorry about your pet.  I know what it feels like to lose one.  They are family in every way.   I am sure it will take you a long time to get over it.  It did me.  So, take care of yourself and try not to cry too much.

Today is going to be an inside cleaning day.  It is already raining and I hear the weekend will be more of the same.

Going to clean house today and finish the laundry.

I am trying hard to get all my protein in with food today.  It seems so hard but I guess you can do it. My doctor wants me to wean off of the protein drinks.  Great.   She said if I need to drink one in the evening for a snack to drink it then.  I am trying to get the protein in.  I also need to drink more water.  I just can't get enough in.  I am going to try today to get it all in.  Going to start marking it down or measuring some how so I know for sure that is what I am getting.   I think you can count coffee and the protein drink as liquid.

Going to the in laws on Sunday.  I have to bring my own food.  Such a pain..lol..   Measuring and carrying it out to their house.  They always have something good to eat and I suffer through my stuff while they eat steak or pasta or potatoes.

So, not an exciting weekend but a busy one.   Hope everyone has a nice weekend
