well what a week its been....Monday I went to the drs because all my joints ached, especially my knee and feet..Dr. decided I might have Lupus....so blood tests done waiting for results..mamo done and still squished and sore over that one. The tech commenting " your weight loss sure shows in your breasts, they have lost so much volume" last year it was" my sister has big breasts too". I wanted to tell her off but she was squishing me at that point ! The other part of the yearly was done yesterday and I offhandly mentioned I might have an overary (forgot how to spell that one) cyst.. The dr. looked at me and said menopausal women dont get cysts. I said then do they get a period out of nowhere and she looked at me wierd and said nooo. Great. off for an ultra sound of my hooha waiting to see if i have cancer of anything down there ! My husband is freaking out, calling me every 20 min from work to see how I am, if the dr. has called. And of course he blames the lapband. I told him that losing weight may make it easier in the long run. This week was long, but I have a feeling next week will be longer. I remind myself often of Jani's tag line if he brings you to it, he'll bring you through it. If you dont mind jani, I'd like to use it as my mantra !! I will only admit this to my friends on this board and to know one else, I am kind of scared. sue
The lapband does not cause cancer or lupus. Losing weight will make you healthier in the long run.
And ... menopausal women can get ovarian cysts (I am here to prove it ... I have one).
Don't worry about cancer ... just because they want to ultrasound your uterus and ovaries doesn't mean it's cancer. It could be cysts or fibroids. Don't get worried about things ahead of time. I recently had an ultrasound of my uterus and ovaries and they found a fibroid and a cyst; now my gyne wants to do a hysteroscopy of my uterus to check inside. She says with my history of obesity (because estrogen feeds on fat) she's concerned. So I'll do this one more test. I'm not scared about it; she's not overly concerned, just wants to be thorough, and I appreciate that. So don't worry so much.
I hate doctors who get you all worked up. It's one of the many things I like about my gyne ... she takes the time to explain things in detail so you don't get scared.

Absolutely use the tag line. I heard it somewhere and it really hit home with me.
I've just gone thru exactly the same thing, for the second time. Last yr I had a period (after 12 years w/o one) while on a cruise no less. Bummer. Then this year right after my RNY I had another one. The GNY wanted another internal and external ultrasound. Last year he told me that periods out of no where like this can be a sign of either uterine or ovarian cancer. I had a cyst last year and it shrank. I haven't heard back from him on these recent tests yet. I hope I hear by next week, because I'll be moved by next Friday. I was scared last year too, but not this year. I expect the same results.
I'll say a prayer for you Sue,
Jan

Hi!
I just wanted to share with you I have Lupus. I was diagnosed back in 1976. If you have any questions PM me and I'd be happy to share my experiences.
So far as being scared right now.......it's normal, I understand what you are going thru. I just went thru a sudden health scare too (about 2 months ago). One involved my heart and one was similar to yours (my gynecologist did extra tests to check for cervical cancer).
Hang in there.
I stole Jani's tag line and started telling myself all the time "it is what it is.....if he brought me to it he'll bring me through it" It did help me cope! I'm still telling myself this at least once a day (some days more) and it has been helping.
Best wishes to you.
