Question about "Stomach stapling" of 7 years ago or so...
Any type of surgery is risky. Anytime you have anesthesia is risky. Complications for RNY are very far and few.
I know thin people that have had heart attacks. One of the problems with having WLS is that the media, friends, relatives, and neighbors want to blame everything on that. What about the people that having surgery and following the docs orders and doing your labs and such help you find something early? that happens but no one talks about that......only the bad...it's sad.
I had mine done 9 years ago.....and I have heard it all....

Women are angels.
...and when someone breaks our wings, we simply continue to fly...on a broomstick.

Yes, any surgery carries with it risks.
I'm glad the media does talk about it, and anyone else, for that matter. I'd want to know everything I can find out - good and bad.
I don't know that this particular article blamed his heart attack on stomach stapling. What I took from it was that his weight probably had something to do with his death. I remember when I last saw him - he was extremely obese. It looked like breathing was difficult for him.
While it is true that anyone can have a heart attack some things - like smoking and obesity - increase the risk. After all, that was one major reason I had RNY.
I just wondered about the "stomach stapling". If you had your surgery 9 years ago, and are fine, that's super. I had mine just a month and a half ago, and except for an infection at the incision site, all is well so far.
Not that one. I knew it was a longshot, and had told the client that as well. Win some and lose some.. The woman literally begged me to take the case for her...she was trying to vacate a judgment over a decade old. Not likely, although I felt then and still feel she had some constitutional arguments, but not great ones. The judge didn't want to even hear it. I wasn't very happy with the judge, although I would never wish a heart attack on anybody.
Emergency stomach stapling..I see no one could answer that part. I have never heard of such a thing either and would love to hear the explaination.
Have you read the book Marley & Me? My step-mom handed it down to me and I am just now reading it. I am half way through and have laughted myself to tears several times, I can't tell you if I have ever read a book that made me laugh so much..the reason I am telling you this is he moved his family to Boca ( after slamming it for years) and has some very funny stories. Wish I could be home reading now..

I haven't heard anyone comment on "emergency stomach stapling" either. I thought the term was odd.
Haven't read "Marley & Me"...I've heard it is good. Sounds like a book I should read - I could use a laugh.
I live in Boca and not overly thrilled with it - I call it the "land of all show and no substance."
A prime example of more money than brains.
We are here and will probably remain here, but I stlll miss Colorado.
