Thome being traded was a surprise to me.  I was waiting to see what Eileen says about it.

ETA:  I just read her post yesterday.  It was after I went to bed for the day.

Yeah, I was pretty shocked ... it's the new white flag trade. Not shocked about Contreras, though. We had to dump him somewhere. I do remember how valuable he was in 2005, though.

I will miss Jim Thome. A class ballplayer and individual. He won't get much playing time in L.A., because he's going to be a very expensive pinch hitter.

The White Sox are done. The one thing I can look forward to in the summer is baseball, and they've ruined that for me. I'm becoming a Giant fan. This has been a crappy summer.

You will be back with the Sox next year, won't you?

Do you think Ozzie is part of the problem there?  All of the problem?

No, I don't think Ozzie is any part of the problem. He wasn't the problem when they won it in 2005, so no, he's not the problem. I think some of their players are a little lackadaisical. And their GM has made some questionable moves lately. I think they've unloaded too much young talent.

Of course I'll be back with the Sox ... I'll always be a Sox fan (I watched the game today and cheered and was even surprised when they came back and won). If they surprise me and come back, I'll be happy ... but I don't see that happening.

I thought Thome was from Peoria, IL ... at least that's where he grew up.

Sorry about Callie ... I know how hard that was on you.

I am using dh's pc because my laptop is still in the carrier thing and I'm too lazy to unload it  I hate his computer. The screen is huge and hurts my eyes.  But, need to post.  Yesterday, the blood collectors were at the university and since I am never ever allowed to give blood, I dropped in to say hi and go through the motions anyway.  Guess what, my blood was high enough to give.  I was at 13 and they only needed a crit of 12.  Yeah.  So, for the first time in my life, I was healthy enough to give blood.

Today, after teaching, I'm going to buy my granddaughter, the two year old, her birth day gifts.  She turned two on the 29th but we are celebrating Saturday because that is when we are all off.  So, I'm shopping today.

DH is having two test in the morning and they are using heavy sedation so I will cancel my classes.  I'm sure my students are going to love that.  LOL.

So, nothing really new except that I gave blood.  I am no longer a blood virgin.  HEHE>

you guys have a good day.

Congrats on the blood donation.  My wife and I can't give because we lived in Europe in the 1980's.

Birthdays this month.  Unbelieveable for us.  Three grandkids, my mother, Mary's brother, our nephew.  And Mary always adds in our dog.  Sure glad I am not the type to get birthday presents for everyone.  The grandkids and that is it.

Good morning folks
been a while since I posted,   I  have a little 3yo girl now that is in bad shape from sexual abuse from a loving grandfather so I have been so busy with her which is fun with a broken arm!   But its ok  I can manage anything when it comes to my little ones.
Arm is much better I am actually typing a few  letters with a couple fingers with right Hand.   I'M  heading up to see mom  today.  she thinks  I haven't been there for months,  its been 10 days.   I made her a favorite soup  broccoli cheese so she will be happy!  And I am taking my bread machine and the ing. for a loaf of  homemade bread so she can "make " my stepdad  loaf of bread.  She dumps the stuff in and pushes the on button and considers  it her product of love!!  It is love for my stepdad from both of us!!!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!  I have to hit the road!!!
