What's new Thursday?

Hi my OFF family:

Yes, it's payday, and my deposit (as small as it is) is in the bank, early for once. I stayed up to finish my book ... an interesting one, called "The Mercy Seller," about the Lollardy movement in Europe in the 15th century that pushed for the common folk to be able to read the Bible in their own language. Sort of sparked the Reformation. It's historical fiction, so there's some truth in it, but the main characters weren't real ... a friar who has an affair with the woman he winds up investigating as a heretic. Very scandalous, but interesting. Couldn't put it down. Read it all afternoon as I sat with heating pads on my shoulders, ice on my knees ... I was hurting. The book made me forget my pains. I want to read the other book by this author called "The Illuminator" ... the main character in this second book was a scribe who copied the Wycliffe Bible.

Anyway, enough book reviews. I get a lot of these books through The Press book sales, so I get them cheap (I don't think I've paid more than $2.50 for any book in the last 10 years). Some of these authors I've never heard of, but I found some really good ones through the book sale, twice a year. And I do all my birthday and Christmas shopping there.

Still hurting a lot ... don't know why. Feel better a bit after the White Sox came back and won yesterday afternoon. Work was so-so ... nothing much. Did my usual pages, then started work on an advance sports page, which I'll have to finish tonight. Got to do a lot of chopping on that one.

Well, I need to get to bed. Have a good day. I'll check back in later.

good morning eileen

sorry you are still hurting, hope that improves today

and thanks for the book review, reading is my chief passion in my old age, well,
actually all my life.  i read a couple of books a week usually.

my foot has been hurting so i tried the new meds that doc gave me, the Ultram.
i think its helping, but i felt very dizzy last night, and that is one of the side effects.

im not going to take one today, will wait for the weekend and test it out again.

dont want to feel this way at work, im dizzy enough on most days, ha ha!!

wishing everyone a great day, and hugs to all that need.

be safe and well, jacki

morning! good to see you start the thread-sorry fo rthe aches and pains...
i picked up a copy of phillipa gregorys'  the constant princess at goodwill the other day- would love to find her other books cheap! these two that you are talking about sound interesting -even if fiction they have the history interwoven and i like that!  the book sales sound awesome to me- don't have naything like that around here- and when our library "friends" group had their last sale i was too poor to pay attention-cash flow issues at the time....

so- my news is just trying to get the house show ready- it really isn't bad -just that we have slipped and have things lying around again -and dust!

update from michael's urologist-his prostate is enlarged but it's not gigundous like he (m) told me--the sleeper comment it seems is that from internal exam it is much larger than it appeared thru the "other" method...eeewww...like an iceberg who is bigger under water than on top. anyhow- he started some meds and we hope to see improvement  in as short as a months' time.

roxie got out last nite somehow- dunno how but we got a phone call about it- so michael went to pick her up- some day she won't be so lucky-she was headed across the big route next block over- some day a truck will get her...i think michael must have had the downstairs slider door open while he was working down there-anyhow- she's home-

even tho we aren't going to wisconsin, i am still taking tomorrow off- and i think maybe we will plan a day trip to go to that cemetery in summit county again- we didn't go last weekend --and i really want to hit their library  for a copy of gw's will.... then come home and pack and clean....so-today is my friday-and tgif to me!!!!

hugs and prayers...............

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

I also have an enlarged prostate, but am using medication to keep it in check.  Unfortunately the copy for my med is $45 per month.  For the last two years.  Yuck.

Good morning all.  It is another great day in Rangerland.  This team is really making noise now.  It has been 10 years since this city has had meaningful baseball in September.  Life is wonderful.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Talk of prostates reminds me of my sister.  She dropped out of school at 14 and is some what of a hypochondriac.  She's now about 64.  A few months back, we all met for lunch and she had this really worried look and said that she thinks her prostate is swollen.  LOL.  I had taken a drink of water and it was all I could do to keep it out of my nose.   So, she said, well something down there's swollen.  Turns out, she had no swollen parts.

Today, DH is going in the hospital to have his small intestine cauterized.  His chrones has caused such inflammation that he has three large spots that are bleeding.  So, in a few minutes, we are out the door.  I'm hoping the procedure finishes before I have to teach.  Daughter is coming too so she can bring him home if I have to leave.

Tonight, resting.

have a good day

Lol That was good Jeannie. I would have spewed water and/or choked.

A similar tale - my brother was reveiwing his bill from the hospital.  They charged for his  pap smear. We still pick on him about that.

Oh, that's really funny, Jeannie! I would have spit the water out and had it coming out of my nose for sure.

I had a wonderful day. Work was relaxing because my client is a sweetheart. Then I went to visit a post-op from the group. She looks radiant.

It dawned on me that I forgot to have my jewelery checked last month. Good thing, two rings had very loose stones.

Then I ran into DIL so we sat and had a pleasant chat. Kind of nice not to have distractions such as sons, kids, husbands.

My hair needed a trim so I wandered over to to get a cut. The usual girl was off but what the heck - another one did a good job. She was so nervous that she snipped her finger.

Tom & I played Bookworm for almost 4 hours.

Rich (my garage man) called to say the mailman left a package out there. WOW - thank you my friend You made my day!

Then I couldn't sleep and had to write another packing list. Still can't believe I am getting on an RC Plane

Kisses

I LOVE BOOKWORM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have played it for, gosh, years....probably what started the elbow/arm/shoulder problems. I can play for hours. I think my top score was way over 1.2 mil. Then I lost my score when I got a new computer and had to start all over.
