It's Friday, what's new with you?
Good morning all. Got my Big Brother fix last night.
Also followed the Red Sox game, hoping they would lose. They didn't. So, my Rangers are now 3 games behind the Red Sox for the wild card. But that is not their goal. They are 3 1/2 games behind the Angels for the division lead.
I got a new book in the mail yesterday. James Patterson's newest... Alex Cross's Trial. Wow! I am about 2/3 done, and going back to it in a moment.
Have a good day.

Good Morning, All
In a few minutes I leave for the last day of my current job. Mixed feelings, as I like some of the people I work with, but the administration has made things pretty intolerable, and I'm looking forward to moving on. I need a change. I start the new job the day after I return from my little trip. Much will be the same, but the things that are different should perk up my interest in working again. At least a little. I hope! And the administration is SO much better!
My ca****cher will be staying at the house most of the time I'm gone, so I know my babies will be well-loved. That's usually my only hesitation when I travel. I hate leaving them alone, with someone coming in for just a short time every day. This arrangement is much better.
I probably won't be on the board for a while, as I'm not sure what kind of computer access I'll have. Everyone take care, and I'll try to catch up when I get back.
It won't be long!

Morning all:
My Big Brother fav got evicted last nite, now I don't care who wins except not Natalie. I love reality shows == new episode of Survivor coming up and my very favorite The Amazing Race starts the end of this month.
Been over to the hospital to have bloodwork, now I'm enjoying my wt. control oatmeal for breakfast.
Off to work soon and then a whole 3 days off -- so much that could be done, but probably won't!!! LOL
Have a great day -- it's gonna be nice fall weather here all weekend.

Done! Your Ticker:
Well, it is very cool outside, so I'm wearing my new sweater. I may have to take it off by noon, but I don't care.
After teaching, I am driving over to Tulsa to meet my son and his family for dinner. I cannot wait; I haven't seen my Kansas grands for about three weeks. That's about it.
Have a good day.

morning and TGIF!
i actually slept til 8 am !!! who hoooo
our showing laast nite was a disappointment-realtor called to let me know they were leaving and said no interest-the guy is not handy and there is handy work to do--????????? ok- so at least the house is clean! she also had told me they have been looking for 6 months so i doubt any house is perfect for them!
so we went to a local cemetery to take some findagrave pics- couldn't find either marker but followed a hot air balloon by picture! not a common site around here!
this morning i am meeting up with a findagraver -she is coming to my town's cemetery to shoot one of her family so i am meeting her at the cafe first-and i have 3 graves to find...last year i shot a few stones for her and we have communicated since-sporadically-so it was nice to see i am off today to meet her.---elaine are you still out there? i know you are on fb--are you lurking ????
eileen-george- tell me about Red Thomas--( 1898 -1962) he played for the cubs i think? 1921- ish... he is buried in our cemetery here- am gonna look for his grave and take a pic! not much available on the internet about him -stats --just cool to me to have a player in our lil cemetery!!!!!!
oh eileen - i owe you an apology-jim thome was born in peoria-but he has relatives in elyria ( one of his aunts was a Girl Scout leader/trainer when i was )and i had been told once he grew up there-my bad!
so--- the thermometer on the wall says it is 58--brrrrrr-=and foggy again-schools were on 2 hour delay yesterday!
i'm hoping to drive to akron-wanted to go today but not motivated to get up early enough to make it work- and now mtg this gal--so i guess tomorrow? --this is one of those "time sensitive" bucket list before hawaii type things!!!! ( maui karen--what should i call my list? it's not a bucket list since i am not dying!) and packing ..that will be our weekend i guess...still bummed about the wisconsin trip being cancelled- maybe i can explain in a day or two-trying not to be whiny or nasty ...it's work!!!!
oh michael's cell phone died- well it still works but the light is gone- he can't see the screen- so off to verizon we go today-and the phone is only a year old.
thanks to so many for pipng in about the fires- it is true that if you have never been involved you cannot fathom the destruction, devastation and the whole emotional aspect...and for agreeing about our family bond...makes me hope that everyone chimes in to let us know how they are ...and we are coming up on more hurricane stuff (season)...
well-hugs and prayers

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Aloha Margo......How about "Hawaii Here We Come List?" Or "Big Island A Go-Go!" or "Paradise here we come List"?
I remember how excited I got right before I moved here.........and 9/11 happened ONE WEEK before my departure date. All the airports were closed, and I didn't think I would make it on the 18th....but I did! I drove my car to Seattle to put on ship....it took three weeks to get here, and I rented a car for that three weeks. Luckily I had my condo to come to, already furnished....and I shipped WAY TOO MUCH and had to take a lot to thrift stores....sigh.
Have fun, sweetie!!
Aloha nui loa,

Margo:
Yeah, I thought Jim Thome was from Peoria ... that's OK, everyone gets a little confused sometimes (I sure do!)
Never heard of Red Thomas ... early ballplayer. I'll bet my Uncle Nick would have known him. When Uncle Nick was young, he and some friends were watching a Cubs game through the knotholes (couldn't afford the price; my grandparents raised 9 of 11 kids .. twins died at 1 year old). Anyway, one of the boys, to be funny, yelled that the cops were coming, Uncle Nick ran into the street and got hit by a car and was partially paralyzed. A bunch of the Cubs players heard about it and came to the hospital with an autographed baseball to visit him. He had the ball for years until he died ... don't know what happened to the baseball. Uncle Nick always walked with a limp and had a cane, although at least he regained the ability to walk. He never married, lived with Grandma all his life; he was a bookkeeper. Of course because of his disability, he wasn't in WWII like my other uncles. But Red Thomas would've been in the era when Uncle Nick got hit.
Uncle Nick remained a Cub fan til his death (my dad was a Sox fan, which is why I became a Sox ... my parents grew up in the shadow of Wrigley Field, but my dad hated Wrigley).
That's the family story. Don't you just love family history?
