Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!
Good morning to you, George and my other OFFer's. I hope that your holiday weekend was just the most fantastic ever.
We went to our nephews house for a cook out but it ended up not being a cook out but rather a cook in. David always has to much food and loves fixing it all too. Yesterday was no different and everything that I ate was wonderful. The company was good and we had a lot of laughs during our visits too. His mom and sister and his 2 brothers were there too. We just had so much fun and so many good laughs and that was just what we needed too. So this Labor Day was a great fun one.
Kayden is here now and is in such a good mood. He is chatty today and is just having fun. He is laughing and bouncy and bright eyed. I love it when he is like this...I get such a laugh out of him. He is watching television and laughing at it. It is a story about Susan Smith the woman that killed her 2 boys. I sit and watch him laugh and think that you poor boy....you just don't know what it is that you are laughing at. ha ha Now he is looking at me smiling and chatting...I just wish that I knew what he is saying...but someday soon I will. He is joy and brings so much love and happiness in this house.
Bill got a letter and they denied his workman's comp claim. I am not sure what to do now. I knew that they were going to work on screwing us and that is just what they did. Now they are saying that the bills need to be sent to the health insurance and heaven only knows there is plenty of them. I don't even want to know how much debt we are going to be in after the insurance pays. I have no idea how they pay since it is new. I know that the last company they had didn't pay diddly **** I just hope that this one is better. God help us now! I am going to try to investigate what we can do to have them reconsider but what I am not sure. I am not sure why they have to make it so hard on people during times in their lives that is the hard already. It just seems mean to me.
Well, I guess I should get going. I have a couple of things to do..like pack Bill's lunch and get my breakfast. I am so hungry I could eat anything that slowed down enough for me to catch. ha ha I am going to have my oatmeal and sunflower kernels this morning. The kernels add crunch and 7 grams of protein for 1/4 cup of them. I love crunchy food. And...it smells like someone had to have their pants changed and it is neither Bill or Misty or me for that matter either. So that leaves Mr. Stinkbottom. Oh what joy comes in the morning with dirty diapers.
I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers are being said for everyone too. Have a great day and just think one thought...it is a short week for most! Tomorrow is Hump Day already. Don't forget to spread some sunshine around today and smile at others. It brings you and them joy and happiness and we all need more of that in our lives!

A horrendous head cold kept me housebound most of the weekend. We had rain, rain storms and more rain. This a.m. is fairly sunny but soggy.
I had a case of pears and tomatoes that had to be done so I spend my energy on those. I'm always glad to see the new jars of canned goods on the shelf. To me it is a nice homey feeling.
I watched "princess" yesterday while her dad worked. She is interested in my sewing so I taught her how to make a pencil holder and a small bag. Mom and I were suprised at how well she did. I think each Sunday will be a day set aside for sewing with her. She did hand work when I watched her a few years back. It's fun to see the excitement when she creates something.,.. even if it was just a straight line.
Well, it is time to get her up and out the door for school. Today will be a day of catching up on projects while I was sick .
Hope all of you have a wonderful day and make it a fun one.

Hey Carla: Have a question.....was it told on this forum about the trip to Dallas for Janet's birthday bash, or were only certain people invited?????? I couldn't go anyway, but I sure don't remember seeing anything about it.....feeling a bit left out.

Done! Your Ticker:
Pat,
I can answer that for you. My family wanted to give me a birthday party and asked who I wanted to invite so they could plan a party for me. Well, two years ago I had a Great Texas Slumber Party Adventure that was open to the board. There were 21 that came. It was a massive undertaking and I blocked a group of rooms. Knowing my limitations and stress levels, twenty people is about all I can handle and do anything. We rented two vans. I digressed. This year, I contacted the girls that came last time first to see how much interest there was before I opened it up. And most of them are coming and some that exressed interest last time but were unable to come. So, don't feel left out. Nothing was directed at leaving anyone out. Twenty people to cart around and plan for is about as much as I can do.
There will be others, I'm sure.

I decided it was time to start checking in with all of you, now that I'm part of the group!
My weekend was great. Saturday went to coffee at our coffeehouse with my husband, Michael and our dog, Jack. Sat outside and enjoyed delicious coffee. Then we went to our little local farmers market and bought some tomatoes, cukes and corn. Went home and relaxed and had lunch (BLTs and corn!) then took Jack to the dog park and watched him romp.
On Sunday, we went to the big farmers market and bought a peck of cukes and of beets to pickle. Did some shopping and such and then I napped for a bit. We went to friends' backyard supper - they grilled a brisket and had corn on the cob, salad, and blueberry pie. I have to be careful, because the doctor said not to gain any weight!
Yesterday we put up the pickled beets and garlic/dill pickles. All told for the last two weeks, we did 25 jars of dills and 8 quarts of beets. Good enough! Then we went out to hear music.
I'm trying to be careful this week to prepare. Next Wednesday I start the pre-op liquid diet. I'm pretty much done drinking my diet coke, am trying to drink water, and am focused on healthy eating. It's going well.

Hi George and my OFF family:
Well, I continue to have sleeping issues ... don't usually, but my body isn't liking me lately. Back, knees, legs (area on my inner thigh ... ouch, must be a pinched nerve somewhere!). I dozed off sometime after 1 a.m. and then got up and couldn't get back to sleep. So I got up, in pain, and took another pain pill, went out and watched some TV and had a glass of milk (it usually helps) and went to sleep around 3:30 a.m. Then I slept OK but had the weirdest dreams.
It's overcast and coolish ...74 degrees. Looks like rain, feels like rain.
Talked with my brother Gary last night after he got home from his trip to Lubbock, Texas, to be with his friend Bruce, who is dying from Hodgkins. Gary said Bruce actually had a good week, only one day that he was in pain so much that he used his pain meds a lot and was sleepy. He's on steroids three days a week, then off, but they seem to help. He's in hospice care now, so they're not doing much else for him other than the steroids and pain meds to manage his pain. We don't expect him to be alive by the end of the year. Gary figures if he's still alive when Gary is out of a job by November, he's going to drive down there to spend a lot of time with him, even taking the cat with him. (Ought to be fun, ZuZu and seven dogs!) And if that happens, Gary would have his back surgery down there (if he can get insurance to pay for it ... he'd have to find a dog approved by his insurer because he'd have insurance for six months after his job ends).
Gary also told me my other brother Ed and sister-in-law Margaret are having a birthday party for Margaret this weekend ... well, nobody told me! Am I invited? He heard this from my mother (Gary leaves his car at mom's, who lives near O'Hare, when he flies out). I would like to go ... I really love Margaret and of course I want to celebrate her birthday, even though I don't know if I can afford to go. And if it's on Saturday, I can't go because I have to work. But they could at least tell me.
Not much going on yesterday. I watched baseball (White Sox won, 5-1, helped out the Texas Rangers for you, George), but there weren't a lot of games on after that because all the games were in the afternoon. Only one evening game and no late West Coast games. I made my steak on the Foreman grill, made some protein balls in the afternoon so I'd have some healthier snacks. Actually did a little dusting (that did not make my back and knees happy, though), and dumped the one really stinky litter box. Otherwise, a lazy day. Didn't even get out of my nightshirt.
Unfortunately, back to work tonight. Hopefully, it will be an easy night.
Well, have a good day.
