wls for people in their sixties
Hi Shirley....Hey you are just a "youngster". I was 66 when I had my surgery, RNY on November 19, 2008..just 10 months ago. I have done just fine, no complications whatsoever and have lost 115 pounds since then which is below my goal weight by 5 pounds. I am 5'7" tall and feel 20 years younger and feel like I have been a second chance at life. No more pain in legs, back, knees, joints, no more high blood pressure and no more danger of diabetes, and do not have to use my CPAP machine anymore for sleep apnea. Life is sooooo Good. I'd have the surgery again in a minutes. I wish you all the luck in the world my friend and welcome you to post here on OFF. It is the greatest place to come for advice and support and just to let off some steam. Great bunch of people, we are!! haha

Hi Sandy, thank you so much for your reply. I am glad to hear you are doing so well. the head surgeon was at the group meeting tonight, that was really good. I am diabetic, only take 1/2 of a sugar pill, but my sugars have been creeping up. my first concern is just if the insurance will pay for me. lol do you know any heart pts. that have had the surgery? My husband wants to have the surgery too. He has two stints in his heart. but he had heart studies last yr. and the heart dr said everything looked fine. We both have had two total knees done, He is diabetic also, but takes 4 pills a day for sugar. It is nice to know people are out there to help.
thanks again
