I remember when I first started driving my Dad telling me that finding a good mechanic was as important as finding a good husband! That's been proven true more than once. I'm on the search for another one now, mine finally retired to spend more time with his wife...he's 74!

Congratulations on yours...make that a BIG box of donuts and LARGE coffees!

You are a lot lucker than I was.   I had my CV joint go --
I ended up spending $1,000 on car repair, and I can't afford it right now.

YES  YES  YES   A good, honest mechanic..... a rarity for sure.

Last month I took my car in for the 120,00 mile check up.... ( have 131,000 on it).  I knew I would be paying big bucks.... around $1,000.  It would have cost $1,500. in our area.

Anyway, I had the car serviced, paid my bill & drove off.  Fifteen minutes later I received a phone call from my mechanic.  He put in the right spark plugs but charged me too much.  Hmmmm  he was verifying my address to send me a refund check...  WHAT ? ??   he could have gotten away with overcharging and I would have never known....  wow... how honest is that ?

I went to this man several times before moving across state.  I actually schedule my services while visiting relatives over there.  I know it is cheaper and he does a great job.

Judy, that is great news. I am so glad that you found that honest mechanic...that isn't something that happens often. ha ha  I would definitely hang on to that one for sure! Don't let him get away from you!

I think that donuts is in order and a nice card too showing him how much you appreciate him and his honesty.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Lucky you! Glad you got something to go your way for once.

Yes, they deserve doughnuts. I too have an honest mechanic ... unfortunately, I still can't afford to get an oil change.

How about a big batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies.  Mechanics love when you take time out and bake them things.  I know this first hand because my son used to be a mechanic, and had several ladies make him cookies.  They share with everyone else too.  It is easier to buy donuts though.
