Progesterone???
I just got the results from my last ultrasound. It showed that I have something called hyperplasia, which is a thickening of the uterine wall. If not treated it could cause uterine cancer. My question is, can I take progesterone after WLS? I sent an e-mail to my surgeon's office manager, but she has not replied. They want me on it for four months, beginning Sunday. Has anyone been on progesterone since WLS?
I know there are different meds we can't take, but I don't know about hormone treatments like this?

Well, I don't know Jan, but I think I'm going to be in the same boat as you are.
I, too, had an ultrasound that discovered a thickening of the uterine wall; I have to go in on October 6 for an 'endometrial biopsy'.
We'll compare notes later on.
Hope you get the phone call soon---probably Monday? For sure not this weekend, right? Yah, Yah.Don't bite the fingernails down too far....OK?

hi jan, sounds like you and I are going through the same kinds of thing. I had an ultrasound 2 weeks ago and showed 3 fibroids about 2 cm each. I am in a lot of pain and go in tuesday for a uterine endometrial biopsy. I have to take some pills 4 hours before the procedure and 800 mgs of advil...(well that doesnt sound good ! ) I dont know amything about the progestrone though. I hope I can get a complete hysterectomy and be done with this bs....sue
I finally got through to my surgeon's office. No problem with taking the progesterone thank goodness. Funny, my youngest son said to me "Mom, you're all through with those parts, why don't you just get them all taken out?" Who knows, maybe I will have to, but I'd rather treat it than go through another surgery, especially since I just moved and have to find a new gyn up here. My niece used to work labor and delivery at Munson Hospital here and she gave me a name, so I might look into it.
So, for all in the same boat, it's ok to take Progesterone, it won't hurt your pouch.

No, for menopausal symptoms, so HRT ... I take Combipatch and Vivelle (estrogen patch) and alternate them ... two weeks of one, two weeks of the other. I had screwy hormones pre-WLS, with very heavy periods that were causing lots of problems, so I was on hormones for awhile, went off pre-op, then when I went through menopause, went back on them.
