Judy....my heart is breaking for you. No matter what we think of our exes at one time we loved them and they are still there in our hearts. May he rest in peace.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my ex-husband in 2006 - only he died from too many years of drinking, I suspect It was hard on my daughter, so I felt bad for her, more than anything.

If you are considering going to his memorial service, you should probably go. That's my 2 cents.

ps - my mom died a couple of years ago, when she was 88. She fell and broke her hip.
When parents are elderly, moments count.

Judy, I am so sorry to hear the sad news of Gary's passing. He is no longer suffering and is now at peace. It is normal for you to have feelings at a time like this...he is a part of your life and at one time you cared for him very much. Things may happen through the years but the bond never leaves.

As for you going back to Michigan now...if it is in your heart then you should do it. We must all follow our hearts.
