Question about Calcium

I think I bought the wrong thing again - ugh - I have been taking Caltrate and found out today that's the wrong calcium, I needed citrate.  Just got back from Walmart, opened the bottle, and I believe it's magnesium caltrate.

I just got off the phone with someone from Spring Valley who had bypass 12 years ago.  She said all she uses is the caltrate.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Debbie,
I have been using Caltrate 600 plus D plus minerals chewables that I buy in Walmart and my nut said it was perfectly fine. All my blood tests are good. Other than that how are you doing my friend? I hope well.

Gail,

Yes, that's what I've been using....so I didn't need to buy other calium then - lol - that's a relief.

I'm doing really well...I'm feeling good and taking only my BP pill, which she said to try cutting it in half to see how it does, although I haven't done that yet.

You look gorgeous!  How are you doing??  Enjoying your new healthy body?

Have a great evening!

Hi Debbie,
Do you have a nutionist? Thank you so much for the compliment, I feel wonderful I have 22 lbs left to goal. My BP is low now lol well not to low but really good and yours will be also. You probably will get alot of different opinions on the calcium talk to your nut. I am doing well with caltrate.

Gail,

How much are you down?  WOW, you're almost at goal already?  Geez, I remember when you just got out of surgery....

I do have a nut and also a bariatric nurse I can contact.  I haven't had any follow up labs yet....maybe that will happen at my next visit in three weeks.

Congratulations, Gail.  You have done marvelous!

Debbie,
haha, I am glad you looked I thought maybe the ticker wasn't showing up lol. You will do as well you'll see, remember how I was complaining that it wasn't fast enough well I am only 61/2 months out and look only 22 to go. I have no issues with food at all, not like the beginning. I just drink that Walmart Whey advanced protein in the morning to get a jump on protein the rest comes from food. I eat chicken, fruit, veggies eggs, bacon nuts and allow myself one cup of coffee a day. 70 oz. of water.

My Doctors office says only Calcium Citrate.   I buy mine at Costco.  It is a bit more expensive, & takes 2 tablets for 500 mg (as opposed to 1 tab for 500 for calcium carbonate), but it's much easier for us to absorb.

I never had a deficiency in calcium in my life & have always been a fan of milk & dairy products, yet I have osteoporosis and have already lost 2-1/2 inches in height. I'm taking no chances - nothing but calcium citrate for me!
